Swift63 is right. Retiring part of Clinton's debt may not be the most exciting thing in the race right now. But making sarcastic comments about it won't endear Obama to Hillary's former supporters. I'm not one to believe we have to beg and plead and kow-tow to Hillary's former supporters, mind you. If they want to vote McCain then I won't beg otherwise. But OTOH, I'm going to personally avoid saying things that only open old wounds.
The primary was tough. It's over. And frankly if it weren't for good luck, it could have gone the other way. Therfore, it's time to be gracious and move on to working to insure John McCain is not elected President.

Lieberman is so wormlike that it's hard to see even Red State Republicans taking any delight in his endorsement of McCain. Of course, many of them hardly know him or don't know him at all. To them, he'll just be a Democrat for McCain. But if they look closely at the guy, I can't imagine them being that impressed.Posted at June 10, 2008 9:45 PM in response to Top Lieberman Campaign Official: We Begged Obama For Help In 2006 -- And He Came Through

I agree with Michael A that the Clinton stories need to die down. The fascination with her failed campaign is turning somewhat morbid and negative, really. Some Clinton supporters believe Obama supporters are reveling in her downfall. And, to be fair, some Clinton supporters really don't know how to let go either.
I say this, but what stories do I usually click on first? Argh!

I don't know what percentage of Hillaryis44 contributors will vote for the Democratic nominee in November. And I want to avoid any of that perceived Obama supporter "smugness" I've heard so much about. However, I do think that the petulance of a daily campaign to oppose the Democratic nominee will become less fun after a while. I suppose some folks can't get enough of it. But I suspect most folks will find daily posts about how to screw up the election for the Democrats to be a tiresome battle.I'd really like the Democrats to win the White House this year.

I don't think calling her "Shrillary" is appropriate or productive. For Obama fans, it is time to be gracious.

I don't see anybody saying that race doesn't matter in this campaign. But most recently, it's been Hillary Clinton herself who has been using race as a wedge issue. If you conclude that Obama's strong supporty by African Americans justifies her comments that strongly imply that "hard working" whites won't vote for him, then that's your right to conclude that. But I think you're in the minority here, no pun intended.Posted at May 12, 2008 11:42 AM in response to Poll: Obama Losing West Virginia Primary By More Than Two To One

How about calling them "hardworking" districts.

Hillary is relevant until she's officially no longer campaigning. Just because she can't win the nomination (short of Obama dropping dead ... or worse), doesn't mean she can't stir the pot more. And she will. Her campaign may have a mortal wound, but it's still holding several loaded guns. Treating her as irrelevant is risky.Posted at May 8, 2008 10:05 PM in response to What the hell is wrong with you people?

"Honestly, with all the sore winners around here I think they've projected every frustration from their entire lives onto Hillary."I think you're on to something Otto.
BTW, I've been lurking over at Taylor Marsh dot com and Hillaryis44 and have concluded the same about them. Both sides have heaped all their frustrations, despair, fears, and hatred on the hump of the great white whale ... err, I mean the other side's campaign. It's not exactly pretty.
FWIW, I think a little bit of reserve in celebrating by the Obama forces is called for at this point. There is still some potential damage the Clinton campaign is broadcasting that they may still do. Or not. Nobody really knows for sure. All I know is their campaign is starting to act like a crazy person. And crazy people can be scary.
