We require psychological certification of applicants for law enforcement, military service, and pretty much any vocation where there is a degree of lethality is involved, shouldn't we demand the same of the person with their finger on the "button".

I do agree with your heroes analysis as well - Just because an officer is wounded in the line of Duty doesn't qualify him for Chief of Police.

I'm not going to be held responsible for accounting for the dimwitted blathering of an ignorant segment of the population which cannot distinguish between two conflicts separated by +/- 18mos and the nation of Iran (of course somebody needs to pass the latter on to McCain). Also, small point (but VERY LARGE in terms of relevancy) in Afghanistan we very responding to those who attacked us on 9/11, in Iraq - well not so much - well not at all.

They are not the same conflict, not the same time, not the same place, and definitely not the same enemy. To assert otherwise is just plain ignorant.

When I read the AP, WaPo, NYT, or either of the Cable news outlets I am embarrassed.

I would like to rail against the journalists for their lack of curiosity, their inability to conjugate facts, their penchant for confusing reporting with opining, but then in dismay I realize that we get what we deserve.

We appear to be dominated by "low information voters" and other Dumbasses who rather gravitate toward the National Enquirer, Jerry Springer and the WWE and our press reflects this.
