  • given their minority status, they have thrown their weight around fairly well, at times. I think the agendas they are putting forth are very positive.

  • It would help if all the Democrats (elected and otherwise) would stop repeating Republican/Bill Frist talking points about how Democrats don't have a message, an agenda, ideas, etc etc. The Democrats in Congress are a lot tougher than they have been in well over 15 years, but they get little or no credit for it because everyone especially on the amateur and professional Democratic pundit side is jumping on the "Democrats Suck" bandwagon.

  • Okay, but the thing that concerns me is that DPW is owned by members of the UAE royal family, and members of the UAE royal family have been connected to Osama Bin Laden. (see Tenet's testimony at the 9/11 hearings.) Now, it's apparently a big royal family so who knows, but, you know, a little oversight and due diligence seems like a good idea in this case....

  • I think she's got a WAY up hill battle on that front, unfortunately. My mother is a good example of the kind of person that I can't imagine how she'll get through to. (we live in NY, by the way.) My mom is a registered Republican but voted for Gore and Kerry. She's pro-choice, pro-environment and anti-Iraq War. (I know, she's in denial.) But she HHHHHHATES Hillary, even though she fights for everything my mom believes in. It's irrational. She's voted for Schumer and Brian Higgins. But she'll never vote for Hillary.

  • Aha, that makes sense. Wonder if there's anything to it. Those NPR stories are alarming. James Comey being booted from the Justice Dept leaves me feeling queasy....

  • Somebody said it to me - an activist friend. I can ask where THEY heard it from.

  • I heard a rumor that seems to be completely unsubstantiated - can't find any evidence to back it up, but I wanted to bring it up in case I missed something. Was there discussion of replacing the promoted Abramoff prosecutor with the brother of Scott McClellan?

  • Larry, I noticed you brought up the Bolton hearings in reference to all this. Have you heard any media outlets making that connection since this blew open on Friday? I sure haven't.
You'd think that Bolton receiving "summaries of intercepts between foreigners and "U.S. persons" and request(ing) that the spy agency tell him who those Americans were" would be significant to these new revelations as well. If you end up on the air, I hope you can make that point....

  • Not clearly stated was that each bunch (my word) of information to be surveilled would require a FISA so the total FISAs would be huge. Also it would be onerous since terrorists keep changing instruments, locations etc and he implied that each requires it own FISA.
Yes, he said that it would require hundreds of FISA warrants which was impractical, according to him. That's my recollection.
