  • >>>Wouldn't it be helpful to have Hillary and those of us who support her on Obama's side?

Of course it would Tower, but Sen. Clinton is making that very difficult. At best, her remark was a careless and insensitive gaffe. She has repeatedly said that her husband hadn't sewn up the nomination until June. The bring up the RFK assassination now seems really odd -- and unnecessary. Maybe she should just get some sleep.

  • Don't disagree with Jade7243. These blogs are all entry points to the echo chamber. But I do think TPM is a bit more objective in what it chooses to post and how it analyzes into. And I think it's a little unrealistic to think that bloggers have the resources of the mainsteam media to do any real digging.

  • As a lifelong journalist, my observation is that there is no bias whatsoever in TPM -- at least as far as the Democrats go! Sometimes I feel that it's biased in favor of Clinton, other times I think it's biased in favor of Obama -- a pretty good sign that doing a good job of balancing two perspectives. As far as getting e-mails from inside the campaign -- that's how journalism works. Reporters have sources and there's no need to reveal who they are. If TPM picked this stuff up and ran with it without further investigation, that would be a problem. As I see it, that's not happening.

  • Hillary's negativity is such a total turn-off to me. As the NYT said, she's taking the low road to victory. It's bad for the Democrats. Once the spotlight fades from Obama and goes back on her, her "baggage" will seem far more significant.

  • Here George, take notes:

Senator McCain, you once said Chelsea Clinton, 16 at the time, was so ugly because Janet Reno was her father. Are you prepared to rreject/renounce / or disown that state? And a followup- how would you feel if someone made that kind of remark about your daughter?

  • This is her usual distortions and half truths. "Tough questions" wasn't the issue -- trivial and stupid questions that pundits and political may care deeply about, but voters think are less important than the war in iraq, the economy, health-care etc. Yes, those of us who have been glued to the campaign may feel the differences between the two candidatees are minimal and that they'd simply resort to their usual talking points. But it's important to remember that a lot of people are just tuning in -- and deserve insight into important policy issues not inane questions about whether you wear a flag pin.

  • Shame on ABC for allowing a former Clinton staffer to moderate this debate. His bias was all too obvious, and it has damaged the network, hopefully beyond repair.

  • Technically, the rules do let superdelegates vote their conscience. But the Democrats not only need to avoid any foul play, but also any perception of foul play. And if Hillary gets this election through the superdelegates, there are going to be a lot of Democrats who will view this as totally unfair - and this will divide the party. I don't think Obama supporters who say they wouldn't vote for Hillary are necessarily objected to her as much as they are to what she would need to do to be the candidate.

  • Hillary has set the tone in this campaign ("Obama is unacceptable.") and sadly her supporters have followed. As a Democrat, I am saddened to see the party getting all divided like this. A few months ago, I was confident that a Republican could never win. Now I'm not so sure.
