In the Mind of McCain
In the rush to take advantage of the the "gotcha" moment, we should not overlook the opportunity to understand thoroughly the thinking that underlies the occasional absurd comment from Sen. McCain. Now, I am as outraged as are most of...more »

Like your analysis, Chris... especially as it turns on good faith. Or lack thereof. Case in point: President Bush is trying to lift the offshore drilling ban. Where "compassionate conservatives" may be expected to argue the competing issues of, say, environmentalism and oil self-sufficiency, the real point--i.e., all the potential profits of such drilling land directly in the pockets of American Big Oil--never reaches a level of national attention that such an issue deserves. How can ideological debates within or between parties take place in such an atmosphere of public bamboozlement?

Anyone who calls me that in public (or private) is not only not my boyfriend anymore, but I'm gonna cut his allowance and not give him any more spending money to waste in politics, no matter how pathologically ambitious I may be.

There are 7 differences between John McCain and Barack Obama, and 4 clear differences between Barack Obama and President Bush. Ergo, there are 3 differences between Barack Obama and John McCain.
If you don't believe me, just ask Phil Gramm, who was just spotted driving a late-model Volga around recreational Lake Lukomskaye in sunny Minsk Hills.

He may be a d@#$-head but he is a masterful pol for taking the spotlight from Obama. If only he had a green background to work in front of.

I just find it funny that a "major news event" is Mr. Obama simply repeating his long-held stance regarding his strategy for withdrawal from Iraq, while relying (duh) on his army for the tactics. It really couldn't be plainer. The average American's inability to process such simple stuff is occasionally funny, but always embarrassing.

The real reason not to vote for McCain is that he is a liar and an idiot.

I agree with Aimey and Moose. McCain's job isn't to carry water for the Obama campaign. Any lack of coviction in McCain's response is a reflection on McCain's character, not Obama's. I mean, don't we all KNOW that Obama's a patriot? Shouldn't the American people understand for a FACT that the Democratic nominee for president is a de facto patriot, by his words and deeds? And if they don't, and McCain can equivocate on the matter, what does that say about America?

Right Danny.. you are so right.. that is why I commented as above. But is it in Joe's DNA or is he playing the heartland for fools? That stands as my question.

No, Ratfood, and I have the greatest respect for WVAers. It is a direct reference and snarky rewrite of Joe Scarborough's insinuation that the good folks of Wheeling would not take kindly to intimations of bilinguilism (Why? Do you need to say something twice?) or the pursuit of the hopes of Americans and of the citizens of the world as proposed by Obama. It is a direct response to the snarky comments found in the clip. Have a look and see what I mean.
