I realize that Alaska is detached from the mainland. But did this candidate just crawl out of a hole? She doesn't even seem to know that it's bad for her to admit she knew nothing about the Michigan pull out. I now see why Palin couldn't even answer Couric's throw-away question about her reading material.

We Democrats need to keep our eye on the ball. I also think Keith has become a caricature. But this election isn't about Olbermann or Rush or Fox News. Bush and Cheney have emptied the Treasury, shredded the Constitution, destroyed our military, and made a college education an expensive luxury for middle class families. Save your anger for them and their successors, McCain/Palin.

It irritates me that women who hated Bill Clinton for his infidelities and hated Hillary for "degrading herself" and staying with Bill are giving McCain a pass on his serial infidelities and on calling his wife the c-word in front of reporters, etc. I wish someone would have asked him about that. It would be hard for McCain to cry that they were picking on him.

Republicans aren't shy about their longing for a time before the New Deal.

And I understand this for the very rich. But why do middle class Republican voters fall for the ruse? I'm from a small town full of middle class people who believe that "family values" and hard work created the American middle class--they deny the contribution of Social Security, Medicare, labor laws, the G.I. Bill, civil rights laws. It's illogical ... and disheartening.

I don't agree with Ombudsman's analysis on this article. But he/she is right about TPM and its headlines. For the past few months, I have noticed, after reading the original story, that the TPM headline/review was misleading or downright inaccurate. I still read this site daily, but the move of some of its writers toward sensational headlines doesn't serve the readership.

I don't get this. You mean that women shouldn't have to make choices? If they want to have demanding careers, they shouldn't have to choose between that career and having a bunch of kids? Of course they have to choose. If you have a demanding career, it's ridiculous and irresponsible to have 5 kinds.

The only reason this woman can have 5 kids (including a pregnant teen and one with special needs) is because she and her husband have money and help not enjoyed by most Americans. Most American women DO have to choose. And by suggesting that Palin is virtuous or a superwoman because she is doing both is just crap. She's NOT doing both.
