What I learned in these last 7 years...
Fear, isolation, poverty, dictatorship. Those words are going to remind me of why I won't ever vote for a Republican. War, hunger, soaring gas prices, indifference. Do I want 4 more years of this? Prosperity, hope, better days ahead. I'm...more »

This is the Story of Me...A response to More Dumb questions about Barack Obama and Black Folks
I am who I am. I am black. I am African-American. Though my ancestral heritage states otherwise. Either way, I am black. No, I don't claim to have a pulse on the black community, but I do have a pulse...more »

The Fundamentals of the Game: How the game is played not sold
Yesterday, The DNC's Rules and Bylaws committee voted to seat the delegations of FL and MI with each delegate having half a vote. This, in essence, was fair and reasonable. Something that I was hoping for. I congratulate Karen Thurman...more »

My note to the DNC about the FL and MI Delegates from an actual delegate
Earlier today, I received from the Clinton Campaign about MI and FL. Yes, I am an Obama supporter and delegate from Alabama, but I do receive messages from the other side to see what they have to say. Anyway when...more »

For so long, I have been reading the blogs and the comments from people about this Democratic primaries and caucuses. Sometimes I laugh. Sometimes I get mad. My reasons are pretty simple: to see what people think about various topics...more »

No need to fear a colorblind society. It's was the dream that Martin Luther King, Jr. That we all live in a society where no one is judged on the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. That's the kind of world I want my kids to live in.

I promised a summary, and here it is.
I want to thank everyone that has written comments to this post. I hope that you all took something positive from what I said. This is my highest recommended post so far. Please by all means, if someone disagrees, and I am not talking about all these trolls. I am talking about true people who disagrees with what I said, by all means, say so. I like a healthy and honest debates. But again thank you to you all...Including Fran. BTW, Fran, Obama has met with some of the Native American tribes, and in fact some of the tribe leaders have endorsed him. SO, he hasn't forgotten us. (I am 1/3 Native American on my mother's side. My maternal great-grandmother was full-blood Blackfoot and my great-grandfather's maternal grandmother was full blooded Cherokee.)
Again...Thank you...
PS...The comment board is acting up!!

Well apparently you have time to post here. But no time for an honest debate? Again, I do need to reiterate that you are not a REAL Democrat!!!!
REAL Democrats debate...
I think you're scared of an intelligent debate or you just hates someone who disagrees with you. Either way, I will NOT let you hijack my post. You can either debate me or get off my post.
You have truly crossed over in my domain. You don't want an honest debate or as you say, don't have time or I'm not relevant. But as of today, this ends now! You call yourself a Hillary supporter, but you're not. Hillary would not even entertain you or your thoughts about Obama. So let it go!! You're annoying, and I don't have time to feed your non-existent ego.
THANK YOU!!

Michelle,
This not the blog to post about how I feel about you. If you want a debate, I truly welcome it, but not here. I have a blog that I post to that we can have a debate. It's called "Keeping It Real with LaKeisha". I will definitely give you the address so you can read it, post a comment, or whatever you want to do. I am all up for debate. Being a real Democrat means you can agree to disagree, but when you talk about someone who is trying to bring about change in THIS country for the better, then you are not a "REAL" democrat. I am down for party unity, and I will embrace my fellow Hillary Clinton delegates with open arms at the Convention. Because we have one common goal, to make sure this country is better for our children. This is not about Hillary or Barack, it's about US and OUR CHILDREN. I'm a mother of 3 daughters, and I want them to know that I help make the country that they live in a better place for all. You got a problem with that? Then I suggest you, get on another train, because this CHANGE train has left the station!!Posted at June 9, 2008 5:49 PM in response to This is the Story of Me...A response to More Dumb questions about Barack Obama and Black Folks

As a politically savvy African-American woman, I feel disgusted by Michelle's comments here. I have a friend who was a Republican until she married a Democrat. She was open to new ideas and a new way of thinking. Before she passed away last year, she had already stated her support of Obama. She had read both of his books, and remembered his speech at the convention in 2004. She thought it was time for change in our government and we need to be respected in the world. She passed away before she could vote. Her hubby voted for Obama, and he's white.
I say that to say this, as a mother and a future civil rights attorney, I believe that this country was founded on the fundamentals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You call yourself a moderate democrat, but nothing you have said so far is the way a moderate Democrat thinks. As an African-American woman, you should know that it was the Democratic Party that gave my grandmother the right to vote, desegrated the places she shopped and ate. It gave me the chance at 18, to go and register to vote. The Republican Party has done nothing for me except signed the Emancipation Proclamation. A vote for McCain is absolutely crazy. In 2000, I would have voted for McCain. I liked him. He was the new kind of Republican with Democratic tendencies. This 2008 McCain, I don't like. So if you are a TRUE Democrat, you would do everything in your power to make sure a Democrat is voted into the White House, but in my observation, you are not a TRUE Democrat like I am. I will always be a Democrat, and I will die a Democrat. As a Civil Rights and Constitutional Law Attorney, I will fight to the ends of the earth for Gay, Lesbian, Black, Hispanic, and Asian citizens. We have rights, and I will make it my life's work to make sure those rights are fully protected. So keep saying what you are saying. It's going to be a pleasure proving people like you oh so wrong....

As an African-American woman, last night was a historic night, and instead of celebrating and being happy, I had to deal with MSNBC and CNN talk about how Hillary turned this to be about her. No one can take away that she won SD, a closed primary, but in the same breath, Obama won Montana, an open primary. But it wasn't about winning the primaries that were left. It was about an African-American man winning a political party's nomination, a historic feat by any measure. This night was not ALL about Hillary. It was about Barack Obama. It was about unifying our party, and setting our sights on McCain. You may be mad about what a newspaper article says about Hillary, and it maybe someone's fair assessment. I'm not mad at Hillary. I think she has ran a fabulous race abeit all the misstatements she's made. This was her nomination to win and to lose. A year ago, no one thought Barack Obama had a snowballs chance in hell to win this nomination, but he did. He is now the Democratic nominee. So let it go. Be at peace.
