  • For those concerned about the 28% number ...this should not be a concern in the general election. Let's remember that this is the primary when inter-party passions run very high and primary polls does not generally play out in a national campaign.

Once the decision is finally made to get behind Barack as the nominee, all that will be needed is a strong unity speach from someone like Gore and that number will change dramatically. That 28% number is mostly among democrats and I am hard pressed to believe that they will all vote for a third Bush term ...passions are very high right now.

Independents will get behind Barack and Rebups for Hillary are for the most part fake primary voters who are already going to vote for McCain.

I believe tha party will get behind the nominee and squash McCain. Note that Barack is running close or ahead of Hillary in some big state polls where Hillary won the primary like California where a PPI poll shows that Obama leads McCain 49% to 40% and Clinton is up by a much narrower 46% to 43% ...Clinton won here by a 52% - 42% margin

  • MY LETTER TO NANCY PELOSI

    April 27, 2008

    NANCY PELOSI
    Office of the Speaker
    H-232, US Capitol
    Washington, DC 20515
    Tel: (202) 225-0100
    Email: AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov

    Dear Mme. Speaker,

I have taken the opportunity to read several times over the letter from a number of Sen. Clinton's donors/supporters. At first read …I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but have finally concluded that there is an implicit threat of withholding financial support for the DCCC if you do not change your position to accommodate those of her campaign.

I will confess that I am a Barack Obama supporter and I do believe that your position with respect to the super delegates is fair and in line with the party rules as I know them. Your position has been steadfast no matter who has been ahead or has the momentum throughout the campaign or I should say …since it has become clear that the super delegates will be involved in the democratic nominee selection and you’ve voiced your position.

In light of this letter from Sen. Clinton's camp, I would like to make it very clear the should my conclusion, which appears to be shared by many ring true and these donors do in fact withhold their financial support I would be more than happy to donate via the internet to as many House Democratic candidates as I possibly can when that time comes. I am confident that should Sen. Obama request donations from his supporters for candidates he supports; the response would be overwhelming and will negate their withdrawal of finances.

As has been evident in his campaign, the American people believe in this candidate and what he stands for and his election to the Whitehouse will change the political landscape.

I am asking that you remain steadfast in your position and not be swayed by intimidation.

    Thank you,

    Sincerely,

  • Let's take a simplified look at the totally of this Bosnia issue...

If I had a successful and well respected company and I am interviewing 2 replacements for my CEO who has for the last 8 years ran the company into the ground, virtually ruined my brand and my investors are about to bolt in droves...

...Both candidates interviewed are well qualified but I found out that one of them lied when he/she told me as well as three other execs in separate previous interviews that she/he had landed by helicopter at a burning manufacturing plant owned by his last employer to help rescue employees when all he/she really did was a fly by after the fact. Then a video appears proving that it was in fact just a fly by ...guess who does not get the CEO job.

  • I am a long time black supporter of Barack from the moment I saw him speak at the Kerry nomination convention.

I recall saying to a group of friends that this man is presidential material and should run for president. Little did I know he would announce the next time arround. While other blacks weren't even considering him when he announced I was behind him and just had a gut feeling that white America would see beyond his race.

I am a proud, diehard Obamaniac and should Hillary be misguidely and immorally given the nomination I think I will hold my nose and vote for democratic policies as opposed to "For Hillary" as it would be the least of two evils. I say 'THINK' because even with 100% support from Obama democrats, she WILL lose against McCain and the Repub hate machine that'll be infused with wrath against another term of Clintons being in the white house (independents and Repubs for Obama will go McCain). And so with that in mind, I may just write in Obama.

I'll understand the anger but I won't allow my personal anger and dissapointment to override the best interest of the country.

  • My thoughts on what Hillary is doing ...posted a couple of weeks back.

"Hillary DOES in fact know what she is doing...

Knowing that she cannot win mathematically, she is positioning herself for 2012 since McCain at 71 or whatever his age is, will be a one term president. Coupled with Michelle Obama's statement that this is the only time that Barack will run, Hillary does not want to wait for 8 years of an Obama presidency which will make her too old and politically damaged from working against his administration.

With her win at all cost strategy fails to see is that as a one term president, McCain will pretty much do what he wants and extend GW Bush policies only more hawkish than Bush himself, putting the country in three times as bad a position as it is today and maybe start WWIII by militarily engaging Iran as Bush wants to do.

This means that we could be looking at another 12 years of a Republican in the Oval Office."

...She cannot win so she wants Barack too damaged to win this time or to run again should he change his mind.

  • I confess that i've not read all the posts but I'll just add a electability few factors in my decision to support BHO...

    1. The young vote for Kerry does not add up to that which is out for Obama today coupled with the fact that they are more engaged today than in 2004 and "I believe" will be more reliable for turnout in the fall.

    2. Concerns about Obama does not even add up to teh repubs hate for Hillary. They will turn out in droves if she is the nominee. This added to what most believe will be a protest vote if she is nominated over Obama:

    a. Indies will go to McCain
    b. A lot of Blacks will stay home or write
    in Obama
    c. Primary Repubs for Hillary are fake and
will vote for McCain in the general
    d. Hillary's campaign has pissed off non-
black supporters of Obama and they too
will not vote for her choosing to stay
home or vote McCain or Nader if he does
in fact run. Although his effect will be
minimal, it did not take much to down Gore

  • I confess that I have not read all the comments as there are so many and that my comments may be considered contrary to the purpose of this thread

First ...Someone mentioned Sen. Clinton's school days ...let's remember that she was also PRESIDENT OF THE YOUNG REPUBLICANS AT WELLESLEY.

SECOND ...Let's note that the Clinton campaign folks are the ones challenging the processes [TX, NV, IA, NH] that has been in place for years and got her husband elected. Suddenly, because her entitled inevitablity is being succcesfully challenged by someone who is not a part of the good ole Wash. club she finds so much undemocratic about the process.

THIRD ...No matter her policies and there are very few differences between the candidates, her record demonstrates that she would not be able to get very much done due to her inability to play well in the sand box as well as republican angst against her and their hatred of Bill.

  • Lalo ...you are treating the red phone as if its just the regular phone. Let's remember that thsi is a special phoen that when it rings no matter what time it is you know that something serious is happening.

If my regular phone rings at 3am my response id what the f**k. In the position of someone with this kind o fresponsibility, if my RED phone rings at 3am I know its quite serious (like answering a call to 911) and I shake off the sleep and listen careful.

THIS WHERE JUDGEMENT COMES BEFORE ACTION!!
