He's been running ads with prominent Portland Dems endorsing him, too. Merkley should be responding with ads that point out how he rubberstamped Bush, finally jumping ship when it became clear the Dems would win big in 2006.
Gordo speaks with forked tongue. But he has more cash to speak with.
He's going to win unless Merkley gets funding help.

It's been mentioned in discussions of McCain's temper that Clinton was also known to get angry with aides, though not holding grudges after the initial outburst. So I tend to doubt the medical angle.
More likely, he's just got the same thing going on that lots of older folks do, including me: we're tired of holding our tongues to meet the definitions of acceptable discussion limits so our diplomatic reserve is gone. In other words, what he's really saying is "You kids get the hell offa my lawn!"
(I'm blunt, too, but the kids don't bug me as much as they bother Bill).
And if he's got memos to back his words, I say "cough 'em up, old boy". Because, despite his high intelligence, there's nothing new about his penchant for saying things that just aren't true.

The only part I disagree with is the built-in $25/bbl war premium. I'd argue it's $50/bbl, minimum.
Within 5-6 years, I bet we'll see $45-$60/bbl again, assuming, of course, that a Democrat takes the White House.
The middle class can look for gains again, after paying off the Republican debts and profiteering. I estimate things will start looking up around 2011-12.

He already granted the entire Bin Laden family immunity, including Osama, so why not AT&T? I mean, it's a nice, American company, turns a profit, pays its CEO good bonuses, and spies on your granny, who, after all, really does act suspicious. I mean, what's she really hiding under that knitted Kleenex box cover? And why does she smell like prunes and rubbing alcohol and spend so much time in the basement? She gave up making jams and jellies years ago.
We can't be, too careful.
As for McConnell, he really likes Congress. But the last Congress he hooked up with was always belittling him, just like his mother, before she disappeared that night he was drunk and couldn't remember anything. He can't open up like he used to so he puts up defenses, like the 16' border fence, around his bathroom.
I've heard him in there weeping after some serious subcommittee questions. Next time, just hug him. He'll tell you everything then, except that night when his Mom disappeared. She really was a wench, but you didn't hear that from me. Baloney and Miracle Whip sandwiches. On white bread from the day old rack. And she never helped with his chemistry homework or told him about girls.

It's a Republican principle: win at any cost. It has nothing to do with public service. It's about personal enhancement.
I now regret the years spent defending the Clintons for the unfair attacks on them because it's become apparent in the past 30 days that Team Clinton will utilize the Southern strategy and every racist dogwhistle they can to win.
Mike Huckabee demonstrated more honor defending Obama from the guilt-by-association meme that Clinton eagerly pursues.
Bill Clinton - once labeled 'the first black president' has confirmed to black Americans that he's really the first Uncle Tom president and now Aunt Tomasina wants the job.
I will never vote for McCain and never vote for Clinton. And I'm not even an ardent Obama fan.
Should she succeed in stealing the nomination via tactics like this and superdelegate games, I'll also leave the Democratic Party permanently and vote for third party candidates in all national races.

I've been unemployed for most of the past 9 months, my longest period of unemployment ever.
The only thing that terrifies me is the thought that , after I get convicted of robbing banks, they may parole me before the recession is over and there'll be no way to pay rent and still no healthcare.
Because then recidivism becomes the only practical choice.

“These companies just won’t do anything,” the aide said. “Even when you have the Democrats working against their bottom line.”
Refreshing, but ugly, to see it put so bluntly. The quid pro quo attitude. The businesses reading November tea leaves and hedging their bets.
And then the standard business attitude: billion dollar lawsuits? It's not coming out of the pockets of the executive board. The stock prices may decline a bit, but they'll still get their Christmas bonuses and the stock prices will ultimately rebound.
I just wish the whole lobbying game will end and all those businesses will just put Congress on their payroll, at least those members who'll perform like a well-trained monkey.
Public financing of all Congressional campaigns remains the only way to end this unsavory and costly arrangement.

I'm disppointed that Russert never asked Clinton if Roger Clemens were to endorse her, how she'd respond. I mean, his treatment of Batter-Americans has clearly demonstrated he's anti-homer and may even be anti-marge.
