It's two pronged attack on two very tangible McCain weaknesses.
One, he's an out of touch multi-millionaire who has no sense of the economic hardships of the middle class.
Two, he's so old and senile he can't even keep remember something as simple as how many houses he owns.
If you're in an offensive state of mind, Cain is good for one of these verbal or mental blunders every few days. I have no idea why it took Obama this long to get into this attacking mindset, but better late than never.Posted at August 21, 2008 12:52 PM in response to Dems Open Major Populist Offensive Over McCain's Houses Gaffe

I remember receiving this same "These guys know what they're doing" and "It's only August" lecture in August 2004, when Kerry was just taking a Swiftboat beating with a smile.

Americans have held their noses and voted for known liars, crooks, panderers, hypocrites and imbeciles ... but they will not vote for a perceived wimp.
I don't know why Democrats are so petrified of fighting dirty ... the voters actually respect it when you do. Voters know McCain is running a negative campaign. He's getting a bump in the polls not only despite it, but because of it. Undecided voters know Obama is smart and they know he's a great orator, but they don't know if he has any balls. I'm an Obama suppoter, and I don't even know.

Ugh, I stopped reading mid-way through point #1 because I got bored. Which is exactly why your "multi-pronged" approach is not good.

I'm an Obama supporter, but this Hillary back biting is ridiculous. If Obama loses in this political climate, with an incumbant President with a 25% approval rating, with this amount of money .. then he'll be a laughing stock, rightly so, and he'll have no one to blame but himself.
He told the Democratic voters that he could be a fighter as well as an orator ... it's time to start walking the talk. He's run an arrogant and lazy campaign so far in the general election.

The "It's only August" meme might be a little more comforting if we didn't see the same exact trend in August 04.
We were told it's only August then, as well.

People told us to ignore the polls and that the Swifboat stuff would blow over in August 2004 when Kerry's lead evaporated. You can continue to drink the Kool Aid if you want, I've had my fill.

We can laugh and mocked McCain for the way he handled the Georgia crisis, but the fact that he there on the spot while Obama was bodysurfing in Hawaii did not make Obama look good and played right into the "celebrity" meme McCain has been pushing. The facts are Obama is getting outmaneuvered and out-hustled by a man almost twice his age.
I trusted that Obama was a fighter and was up for the fight ... please, show some fight Obama. You're making John Kerry look like Joe Frazier.

If we want to use boxing analogies...
Obama is Appollo Creed, worried about style and theatrics, while the McCain plays the role of the oafish brute Rocky Balboa wailing on him with shot after shot. While Obama was body surfing for a week, McCain was hitting sides of meat getting ready for the fight.

Sorry, drank the "Don't pay any attention to the polls showing a tightening of the race. This swiftboat stuff will blow over, and there's NO WAY America will elect Dubya for a second term" Kool Aid in August of 2004. I'm in no hurry to get a second helping.
I've given Obama my money, my time, my energy and my vote in the primary. I expected more out of him than what I've gotten the last month.
