Yeah, great response. Nothing like a good politically maneuvering lie to win an election. IT'S A LIE! No way he didn't know his minister said things similar to this. Please, weather this storm so we have politics as usualy winning again. You can't base your entire campaign on opposing politics as usualy and then demonstrate so clearly that politics as usual is how you intend to win.

Except he DIDN'T explain it in a positive way, did he? He chose to LIE instead. It is impossible he didn't know these types of things were said. Even you and I know about the level of racism in America. Problem is, Obama made it CLEAR last night that it is politics as usual from HIM.

The offensive part of what the reverend said was not so much what he said about American--certainly much of that was in our history and still is in our culture. HOWEVER,he speaks as if no one else has had to rise above the oppression of our culture. No, as he said, Hillary has NEVER been called the "N" and never will. HOwever, neither he nor Mr. Obama have ever been called a "B" on national television, by the mother of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (quoting him) and had the person reporting such language fired while the world was allowed to agree she was a "B." Would that have been the reaction had she quoted Newt as calling Obama an "N."
And he is wrong that only black men have historically been considered property. Women are STILL in many areas of the country and much of the world considered and treated as property. Does he go to bed at night wondering if he will be raped? And will he be told it was his fault? His greatest fear (if we are truthful) is when he walks the street as a black man (still a shameful truth in our society). However, does he live in fear in his own home? And then have the police call the beatings a "personal matter?" Does he speak to the women in his congregation, or only the men? Colin Powell is called by his name; Condelisa Rice is called "Condi" even with a Ph.D. Women (of all colors) not only continue to get diminished but are so indoctrinated we participate in our own oppression. Speak about that in church. Then do more than speak about it...live it.

Mr. Obama's problem is NOT that he attended this church. His problem is that it is impossible to believe he would be unaware that such statements would be said. I was not surprised. It doesn't take the great enlightenment to understand that a certain level of anger may exist, even rightfully exist, in the black community, given our history. THE PROBLEM that Obama has is that he who bases his campaign on TRUTH is lying about not knowing it. THE PROBLEM that Obama has is that he who talks about his good judgment and communication abilites, can't explain something that even many white people who do not go to a black church understand. HOW do we trust bim not? HE of the great CHANGE movement, was politics as usual last night.
