  • Jay,

The corporate income tax is a terrible tax.

It is also the price of corporate personhood, which is why you can buy shares in a corporation and not bear any responsability out of your pocket if this corporation goes bankrupt, beyond what you paid to buy your shares.

When Joe Random Renter gives money to John Doe Owner for his rental, John pays taxes and Joe also paid taxes on the money he used to pay John. Same for corporation, if Widget Inc. pays dividend to shareholder Jane Thingy Investor, think of it like a rental. Jane pays taxes and Widget Inc. too 'cause they are 2 different persons.

  • Mark my words: this matter will go the Supreme Court for ultimate resolution.

Amen, Reed, amen. It will go all the way up to the Supreme Court, all the way up to
    John Glover Roberts Jr.,
    Antonin Gregory Scalia,
    Anthony McLeod Kennedy,
    Clarence Thomas and
    Samuel Anthony Alito Jr..

I already feel better, much much better.

    • Make incompetence a capital offence.

    • Kill all lobbyists, slowly.

    • Any communication between a member of Congress or staff and any other person (including spouse and family) must be logged and published. Implement appropriate technology.

    • Make all political donations anonymous through a public trust.

    • Only physical persons have constitutional rights.

    • Constitutional amendment: The tax shall not be longer than 5,000 typographic signs. Any form of tax deduction is prohibited. Any recipient of public subsidies must be publicly named.

You don't get it. Filibustering ANWAR is about pissing off Ted Stevens.

And that, my friend, is priceless...

PS: you should have a little talk in the corridors with Ben (Nelson D-NE) and Tim (Johnson D-SD). They have a bit of 'splaining to do.

When was the last time someone in this administration said something vaguely smart and decent and then turned it in any form of action that could be considered at least vaguely smart and decent?

I don't care what those guys have to say. I only believe in deeds.

  • John,

Thanks a lot for injecting much needed clarity on this specific matter. If people want to treat the WP "affair" on the chemical weapon angle, they certainly need to come here first, and hopefully feel a bit deflated.

The issue in Fallujah wasn't the use of WP but the fact of sending the troops in such a large scale operation when the area was still full of civilians, by all evidences and despite all claims of evacuation. This gotcha focus on WP is a distraction from the real story.
