O'Reilly's been fantasizing for so long about getting Obama on his show... I can picture him alone, late at night, devising, practicing the devastating questions in the mirror mwahahaha

If we're going to be theoretical about it, how about this vision for the longterm... an electorate that doesn't EXCLUDE based on race or gender? a political party that stands for principles, not just greater numbers?
on a lighter note, that avatar is truly hilarious!Posted at May 13, 2008 8:38 PM in response to News Orgs Instantly Project Big Win For Hillary In West Virginia

Considering the demographics of WV (age, race, etc.), all the exit poll data, and the lack of campaign presence in the state, I'm starting to wonder how Obama is poised to pull off 30% of the vote? I'd say 1 out of 3 ain't bad here. Is this at all worth a mention?

Great. So now the media has beaten them both up. Good work.
Delegate situation hasn't budged, she's lost some more supers and her lead is still closing in PA. But hey, at least they've both been beaten down now. Both of their negatives are up while McCain's positive rating rises in the polls.
HRC's strategy is leading the party into a hole.

yeah, I'm pretty sure her campaign came up with that one a while ago.

If HRC finds it strategic to complain about getting the first question (during a debate no less!) then I think we can safely say that Obama is wise to critique the format. In fact, he'll probably raise a lot of money from ABC's performance last night.
Perhaps this is a critical mass we needed to reach in order to get to the real issues?

Couldn't agree more! When Obama is attacked by a fellow democrat, it lends credence to what would normally appear as bitter partisan attacks from the right-wing, come fall.
Not only do we make "the republicans" the center of our own debate, above Iraq, above the economy, above healthcare... but we give credibility in advance to their empty blather. Enough hiding behind the "he needs to be vetted" argument already!!!

Considering the record number of newly registered and crossover democrats, I'd be interested to see the breakdown of those polled by state color. They give us the 2004 stats (36% Red; 33% Blue; 31% Purple) but no information regarding party affiliation to state on the recent poll. In fact, Jones even presumes that the numbers would stay the same as 2004, which I would highly doubt (granted, they were using actual voters from 2004 vs likely voters in 2008, but who would go to the effort to vote in a party's primary and then skip the general).
Can someone recommend a source to find updated data on the number of registered democrats/republicans at this point?

I agree with Weaver, it would be great to see Hillary attack Obama on his relationship with his Grandma while accusing him of being a racist. That would make my day. She could completely desecrate her remaining 8% of the black vote, while simultaneously alienating every party senior and superdelegate. Unfortunately, she would never take such bad advice. Applying republican tactics to a democratic primary requires a little more subtlety, something the Clintons have perfected.
