  • Wow. talk about bitter! Calm down people. Obama is still the nominee, your hero still reigns supreme. He's just also a politician doing what politicians do - you know, talking to special interests and giving special attention to rich people.... chill.

  • I don't think black men have ever worried they'll be raped when they get into that cab alone.

This is unproductive. Can we please, perhaps, move on from who's discriminated against most and let the dialogue progress?

  • Armchair Guerilla,

I couldn't agree more. I've said it before, I'll say it again, neither candidate has convinced me and what I was trying to imply above was that impassioned, over-the-top supporters of both sides have done nothing to help the case of their preferred candidate by alternately demeaning, dismissing, of demonising the other candidate and concomitantly write-off that candidate's supporters as (a) kool-aid drinking cultish fanatics (b) uneducated poor people who can't be trusted to vote for themselves and understand the 'real' things at stake.

  • or it could be that some people genuinely dislike BHO in the same way many on TPM genuinely dislike HRC. It has nothing to do with covert racism, covert sexism, a vast clinton conspiracy, a vast liberal conspiracy, the revenge of the latte sippers, an uniformed hick electorate or any one of the numerous and increasingly ridiculous hypotheses put forward on this website. People have preferences that are based on a number of complex, and difficult to articulate ideas, ideals and beliefs.

That, or it could be that the 'bread and butter democrats' are fed up with being characterised as stupid, ill informed, less idealistic and in need of guidance from their supposed latte sipping, wealthy urban compatriots.

This is all speculation, but the tone of many obama supportors with regard to 'the typical clinton supporter' is offensively patronising to this Edwards supporter. I can only imagine how offensive it is to clinton's people.

Newsweek on "thrown under the bus"

"...once a person says "throw him under the bus," the phrase lodges itself in the foreground of the mind, where it becomes the first phrase retrieved in conversation. Parrots do the same thing..."

"he [william safire] suspects that the phrase has deeper roots in minor-league baseball, where players are almost always bused to away games. In fact, its original meaning could be have been quite literal: be on time for the bus, or you will be thrown underneath it, into the storage bays."

    just for some parallel/convergent commentary.
