If the Republicans win, they are obviously planning to run Palin against Hillary in 2012. It's their long term strategy, and unfortunately it's a good one.
There is no way McCain will be mentally or physically capable of running again in four years. He is nominally capable now, but the media refuse to publicly acknowledge it.Posted at August 30, 2008 4:18 PM in response to Top McCain Adviser: Palin Will Learn National Security From McCain Before He Keels Over

I am just blown away that in 2008 a presidential campaign would say that a woman will sit at the feet of a male master.
Did someone turn back the clock and we're back in the 1950s? This is frightening, not only the statement but the lack of response from the women in this country.
It makes me feel that the GOP plan to use Palin to actually weaken the women's movement. Women beware!Posted at August 30, 2008 4:03 PM in response to Top McCain Adviser: Palin Will Learn National Security From McCain Before He Keels Over

His VP decision shows that McCain is now controlled by the right-wing extremists of the GOP party. Hardly a maverick decision, in fact just the opposite.
The maverick stood up to these extremists.Posted at August 30, 2008 12:46 PM in response to Palin scrubs her own wikipedia page!

People are saying that his VP decision shows McCain to be a maverick. But actually it shows how far McCain has sold out to the neocon base of the party. Palin supported Pat Buchanan, she is further right than Bush. Even Bush admits there is man-made global warming, although he hasn't been willing to address it.
McCain was called a maverick because he stood up against his own party, but this decision was the final nail in the coffin of the maverick image. By choosing Palin, McCain looks pathetically controlled now by the extremists of the party. He is officially Limbaugh's little bitch.

I didn't think it was possible, but McCain actually made a worse VP choice than Cheney. I can't take McCain seriously anymore, he has become a joke.
I would never trust this woman with my children's safety, or as a role model for my daughters. She is straight out of the 50s.Posted at August 30, 2008 1:32 AM in response to Vice President Sarah Palin: It Is Over!

I wonder if PBS and CSPAN have their numbers. Everyone I know were watching CSPAN all evening. So it's possible that 50-million or more watched Obama's speech. Yeah, we will definitely be seeing a big bump in the polls.
McCain's speech today, in comparison, was just pathetic. He needs to fire his campaign manager for letting him look so bad. It looked like they made the VP decision last night after Obama's speech.

Love this from a commenter on Ben Smith's blog:
McCain/Palin = Beauty and the BeastRahm Emanuel's statement sums it up:
"After trying to make experience the issue of this campaign, John McCain celebrated his 72nd birthday by appointing a former small town mayor and brand new governor as his vice presidential nominee. Is this really who the Republican Party wants to be one heartbeat away from the presidency? Given Sarah Palin's lack of experience on every front and on nearly every issue, this vice presidential pick doesn't show judgement: it shows political panic."
What happened to putting America first?
