  • I took Fr. Pfleger's theatrics as I would a skit on SNL ... somewhat humorous. He didn't preach hate or murder, but rather got carried away with a parody about a public figure. What's the big deal? I realize Trinity is not a run of the mill Protestant church, but I'd probably attend if I lived nearby. I like what I've seen of their conscious-raising sermons -- many based on current issues -- and would trust myself to reach my own conclusions. I suspect that's why Obama has attended the church. I don't believe everything the government says, why would I believe everything a pastor says? We've really lost our senses of humor and perspective during this campaign.

  • Give up on the race thing, please. Maybe, just maybe, Obama has run a better campaign than Clinton. His message was consistent, hers was not. He was prepared to go the distance, she was not. He invigorated the party with new voters and donors, she was late and played catch up. Give the man his due. He is beating the odds and beating the Clinton brand. That wasn't easy. If he turns out to be a lousy POTUS, so be it. He wouldn't be the first. Who's to say HC would turn out to be better? The times make the man (or woman) or vice versa? No matter -- there's a lot of work to do and the first order of business is to unite and get Dems back in play to try and make at least a polyester purse out of the sow's ear inherited from Bush. Can't we just agree on that and leave race out of it? We need to rise above this primary and move on to deal with serious and important issues that affect all of us now and for years to come. If you pray, pray for whoever the nominee is and let's get this country moving in a better direction.

  • I kind of figured this was going on. The funny thing tho' is that the Rev. Wright issue pales in comparison to what could be dragged out about HC. Her claims of being "fully vetted" are about as truthful as her Tales from Bosnia. (BTW, where ARE those tax returns?) Take Rezko, Rev. Wright and a bowling score and they still don't hold a candle to what would face the Clintons. The Super D's aren't that forgetful -- or stupid. Nice try Ickes.

  • Thanks for a well done post. The Clinton and Bush families will no doubt be subjects of many historical (and psychological) writings, but today it's simply a bad soap caught in an endless loop. I can hardly wait for it to go off the air. I've seen more than enough.

  • Sounds like a good idea to me. It would be nice to hear logical and sensible arguments from all sides rather than the ridiculous charges and counter-charges distracting us from the real issues that affect our lives. It would also be good to know that there are still real thinkers in this land -- no matter what their political affiliation may be. I would welcome a kind of "Consumer Reports" for political races -- something to keep candidates focused on the enormous job ahead of them.

  • In the beginning of this run to the presidency, I tried to keep an open mind. I favored Obama somewhat because I thought it was time to put a new face on America, but I tried to be informed and make an intelligent decision when I voted. I read, I watched and over time I came to the conclusion that both Hillary and Bill Clinton have an incredible talent for stating the most untruthful things as facts and allowing everyone around them (including the press) believe they are true. They don't flinch, they don't back down, and they can spin better than just about anyone in the business. It's quite astonishing really. Now mind you, I voted for WJC twice and am not out to denigrate HC. What I've realized is that age, wisdom and the luxury of time have made me a much more informed voter. Obama supporters may sometimes be overzealous in supporting their candidate and bashing his opponent, but I remember doing the same thing when I was young -- before I was turned off by politics -- however, not all Obama supporters are young. There are some of us old folks out here, too. I have admired Sen. Obama's obvious discomfort at going negative, and I hate to see it happen, but someone has got to get the truth out in a timely manner so that Clinton lies don't hit at crucial times and linger in the air as voters go to the polls. Sen. Clinton is a smart woman and a capable person, but she is not as superior to Sen. Obama as she has led people to believe. It's time to change the narrative on her record.
