Even weirder, it's coming from the CSM, which is a pretty respectable foreign affairs mag. I hope it's not indicative of a larger trend in the publication.

I signed this petition a while back, and I'm glad that it finially got some traction.
From what I see here, Obama will make great decisions regarding federal-level oversight. He can identify the major issues and the different sides to each issue, which is far and away more than what we can expect from McCain or Bush.

The supposed problem is that McCain and the GOP are at odds when it comes to policy.
That doesn't really matter, because no one in the GOP cares about policy anyway. They could put "We demand that the military find magical flying ponies and chocolate oasises in Iraq by the year's end" in their platform, and every GOPer in the country would endorse it, as long as it gave them an excuse to hang out in restrooms and wear diapers at their convention.
