I think this is an astute article. It is interesting that Hillary has gone from the candidate for cold, steely-eyed realists to the candidate for people who are emotionally invested in her.
I've said it before, but Hillary and Bill are America's Perons. Their grip on our nation psyche is intense, and out of proportion to their actual accomplishments. It isn't like Bill was FDR, the guy who pulled the nation out of the Depression and won WWII.
Bill was a competent President. Hillary is a competent Senator. This isn't a slight. Competence is hard to find.
But I, for one, am anxious for the drama to end. We have real work to do. And the Clintons need to realize this race isn't about them, it is about us. And they need to help us make this country better.
Tragically, and I mean tragic in the theatrical sense of the word, their inability to realize that this isn't about them is why Hillary has lost this election, and why Bill will be remembered as competent - not great.

Her political career is over. Not only will she not be President, but she can kiss being VP or Senate Majority Leader goodbye.
She just isn't qualified to hold either of those posts. And surely there must be someone in New York who can mount a credible campaign against her in the Democratic Primary in 2012.
At this point, a guy who solicits prostitutes would be preferable to someone who openly discusses the assassination of her political opponents.

I will say that I don't think Hillary is actively hoping Obama will be assassinated.
What this classic Freudian slip reveals is that the Clinton campaign has actively discussed the possibility that Obama might be murdered, and if that happens they want to be around to pick up the nomination.
What could be more innocent? She is only looking out for her own best interests in the unlikely event that someone might have an interest is shooting the Black Muslim who wants to be President.
Given that it is Memorial Day weekend, which will be a slow news weekend, this is all the media will talk about for the next three days. She's done. She can kiss being VP or Senate Majority Leader goodbye unless, of course, someone shoots Barack Obama.

Right, he says this now to a bunch of gullible reporters who will dutifully report everything they say.
There are three things in life that are certain: death, taxes, and the members of the American media to believe and dutifully report what they are told.
Watch what Hillary and the Clintonistas do, not what they say. They are going to fight to have Michigan and Florida seated exactly as is, with ZERO delegates for Obama. If they don't get this, then they will file a lawsuit, which will quickly be followed by a class-action suit out of Michigan and Florida.
The goal now is to poison the well to render Obama unelectable. If they can't get the nomination they WANT him to lose this November. How anyone could look at their actions - not their words, their actions - and draw a different conclusion is beyond me.
Happily for the Clinton campaign, they have gullible reporters like John Dickerson who only report words, not actions.Posted at May 22, 2008 12:45 PM in response to Wolfson: Even If Florida And Michigan Aren't Seated, An Obama Victory Would Be Legit

If the SuperDelegates and "leaders" of the Democratic Party don't step in and stop this nonsense, then we don't deserve the White House.
At the very least I think the American people will make the reasonable conclusion that neither the Democratic or Republican Parties should have complete control, and then vote for a split ticket with McCain winning.
As for myself, I can't vote for McCain. But after watching Hillary and her people these past few months there is no way in hell that I'm casting my vote for her. Hillary is making McCain look emotionally sound.

As an Obama supporter who has absolutely been sickened at what has happened over the last 8 years, I have to say that I don't think Hillary should drop out or quit fighting for power.
Doing so would be going against everything the Clinton's believe in, which is that they - and they alone - are capable of leading the Democratic Party.
So Hillary, fight on! All summer long just keep campaigning as hard as you can. And if Barack manages to win the nomination at the convention, I hope you immediately start planning your run for 2012. Do whatever you have to do to torpedo him so he loses to McCain. That way a grateful Democratic electorate will turn to you in 2012.
And if Obama should somehow win in November, then on the day following the election I hope you start planning how you and your supporters will bring down his Presidency. Maybe you can find a way to force him to resign from office, setting you up to win the nomination in 2012! I know it is a dream, but sometimes dreams come true if you just fight hard enough.
Be true to yourself, Hillary, and your absolute conviction that only you are capable of leading the Democrats. Never give up! Never give in!
I'm sure that someday, if you keep at it, we Democrats will all wake up and realize that - yes - we were wrong to think that anyone other than a Clinton could lead the party.

This crap is why I really don't care who wins the General Election anymore.
The only fight that matters is that we force people like this who think they own the Democratic Party OUT of the Party.
Let them join the Republican Party which embraces Big Money, NAFTA, and waging war in Iraq while doing nothing on health care or protecting the environment.
Wait, those positions are the same as Hillary's. Come to think of it, let's just have a McCain/Clinton ticket.
McCain and the Republicans desperately need to appeal to women.
The Clintons need to come out of the closet and admit what they always were: Republican-lite. That way they could fly around the world with Saint McCain just like Joe Lieberman.Posted at March 26, 2008 6:06 PM in response to Obama Camp Hammers Letter To Pelosi As "Inappropriate" -- Demands Hillary Reject It
