  • I'm curious how AK Republican politicians regard Palin and her crony Attorney General. The committee unanimously voted to conduct the investigation and again to release the results. I'm a pure cynic when it comes to politicians, but for some reason, unfounded I'm sure, most AK Politicians seem to put their State and good governance before the RNC and McCain. If they do, it doesn't bode well for Palin (especially since the per diem issue has just gotten traction)and AG Colberg (giving partisan legal advise to State employees not to honor legal subpoenas).

  • The 110th Congress, will possibly go down in infamy as the least effective, thoughtful and craven Congress in history, except of course for 1994 though 2007. What's wrong with having meaningful oversight and true accountability from Treasury and the welfare recipients. My guess is it cuts into the returns on most members investments and back door deals.

  • Remember the RNC is great at voter suppression & vote rigging. There are so many ways to tamper with votes in electronic voting it's absurd! Don't count McCain out just because he loses.

  • Why should Brown or the U.S. save bankers whose sharp practices lead, in no small part, to the current crisis. As an example, I had may saving in WaMu because they were fairly conservative institution. They're mortgages were all portfolio loans. I took my eye off the ball and along the way WaMu went in the tank due to derevities. I pull my saving and contributed to the implosion of WaMu.

Save Banks? Maybe, but with vary strict asset purchase criteria and deep discount to boot.

The global economy, as constructed by U.S. Neoliberal capitalists have eviscerated the U.S. labor market and white collar workers alike. The offset is cheaper commodities, sold by the like of Walmart, the newly under employed can afford to buy on credit.

Obama is turning out to be DLC lite, his current stance on bailout is in effect, better a pig in a poke than taking measures to fully understand and react rationally to the problem.

That Obama is better than McCain is damning by faint praise.

  • Shortly after Brooks joined the News Hour, he moved to wingnut views on many subjects. What's funny, when he goes long in right field, is he ducks his head and casts his eyes down. Not too obvious he doesn't believe what he says and writes when taking wingnut views. But I'm sure he and other wingnut pundants, such as Paul Gigot, have a large bank balance because of it.

  • Ok, I call you naive. No matter who wins the election, the transgressions of Bushco will be swept under the rug. Obama or McSame face multiple challenges and can easily hide behind health care, Wall St, housing crisis, recession, etc. The first fall back position is the need to close the wounds of the last eight years. Dredging up torture would hurt our national psyche, on and on. Second fall back position is "National Reconciliation" and allowing law breakers, this includes Congress (gang of eight in particular) to do a Mea Culpa, get out of jail free card.

    I wish you weren't naive!

  • To streamline this and future problems I suggest changing our government to have a House of Lords replace the Senate. These Lords would be CEO's from Fortune 100 Companies. Since what's good for Business is good for Citizens (flow down economics you know). Look at the monetary saving in Lobbyists since they'd staff the House of Lords. Any crisis would be immediately, acted on in favor of Business, without worry about effects on consumers or the economy.
