Your buddy borrowed that from elsewhere. Kissinger actually said it first.

Fair enough. I thought you meant that the candidates ought to release a list of all those advising them on foreign policy, not just the most likely senior appointees.

Many people do not feel comfortable being public about their political activities for fear of retribution, from work colleagues or elsewhere. That is why many prefer to remain relatively quiet. I fear that your idea may have unintended and detrimental consequences. Besides, many of the leading figures are already public so that ought to give you a fair sense of direction.

the one was b/c you said that you can't really be a democrat and be in the dlc, which is very different than saying that you just disagree with Ford and the dlc.

before you all rate this one just think about it for a second. Dems criticize Bush all the time for being closed minded and rightly so. Ford comes here to engage in a conversation and the response admonishes TPM for inviting him in the first place, questions whether he is even a democrat, and basically says that his views are illegitimate for someone in this party. How is this not hypocritical? How is this not wrong? Why are those who say these sort of things not just the left wing version of Bush/ Cheney.

you mean to the unthinking hatred and mobbery on display. One wonders why he wastes his time. Tpm cafe used to be a house for reasonable folks; it is sad to see that is in the hands of the most extreme elements of our party.

shame on you. let me ask you a question: have you defended Bill Clinton's administration? If so, are you not implicitly recognizing the contribution of the dlc.
There is hatred on this thread and it is wrong.

This is an excellent piece. Thank you for posting it. It provides plenty of food for thought and stands out from most of the partisan talking points we're often subjected to here.

I agree that this is a worrying development. One would think that the GOP has an interest in avoiding targeting low and mid level staffers; after all, they are likely vulnerable too. This is all made possible by the internet which allows partisans to literally destroy someone's reputation without having to go through the filter of an editor. My question is: was this storm because Amanda was a relatively high profile blogger or will we see this repeated with other staffers of similar rank. Will some sort of balance of terror emerge where we leave their guys alone and vice versa?

Do I have this right-- you think Israel is a "borderline" case when it comes to classification as a democracy? Wow.
