There is nothing in the new law that will empower the middle class. In fact, just about everyone will benefit from the new laws EXCEPT those in the middle class.

If you're sick, you'll benefit. If you're a senior, you'll benefit. If you're poor, you'll benefit. If you're young and poor, you'll benefit.

Those who will not benefit are those who already make just enough to afford insurance. The new law basically assumes that if your head is above water, i.e. you can currently afford health insurance for yourself and/or your family, then you are fine and do not need any government assistance. The problem with that is it doesn't take into account how hard many middle class people are treading water to keep their heads afloat.

Moreover, in no way do the new laws castrate the power of insurance companies. If they will indeed magically have 30 million new customers (as Obama claims), they will be more than happy to retain their sickest and most expensive policyholders; particularly when the government will be footing all or most of the bill for these new enrollees.

It's like telling your traveling salesman that he can no longer dine at 4 or 5 star restaurants and must now only frequent those of the 3 star quality. But, in return for this step down, the company is now willing to cover 100% of his expenses, no matter how high it may be; as opposed to a fixed per diem.

Health care is only the start of what is to come. Its time to make America the best country in the world again and to have the best economy.
