Holiday Gift: Lin-Manuel Miranda Raps About Alexander Hamilton For The Obamas
Right after Thanksgiving dinner, my son, Nick, asked if I had seen Lin-Manuel Miranda (the Latino creator, writer, and star of "In The Heights") perform his rap about Alexander Hamilton at the White House in front of the first family.
I hadn't seen it. And it's amazing.
It is also amazing and wonderful to contemplate that we have a President who would hold a literary event like this at the White House and include hip hop along with other contemporary forms of expression.
Between this, and watching those United Way ads with Obama shooting hoops that played incessantly during Thursday's games, I remember exactly why this guy is so revolutionary in so many ways.
I just wish he'd treat the Republicans and the chicken sh*t DLC/BlueDog Democrats like the cheap pols and hypocritical phonies that they are.

Ugh! You are just too freaking disgusting.
You, who during the campaign described Obama in messianic terms and condemned as racist anyone who dared to point out the obvious flaws in the man, are now repeating the purely skin deep aspect of Obama and his persona. We don't need basketball and hip hop images. Americans need jobs. Good, secure and safe (in all ways) jobs. But Obama gives us schtick instead. And you continue to eulogize him for it, even while he's screwing any chance for progress towards movement (how baby step can I put it) to a lasting peace in Israel. All this after he's betrayed just about every other "progressive" value he ran on. It's not the DLC or Rahm, etc. It's Obama.
It's way past time to point out the bullshit about the man and stop hyping it. Remember the new "generation" of Democrats that Obama would inspire? Look at Marshall's recent post ("Watch Out"). Instead of loyal new progressive youth America has a generation of turned off youth who'll far more likely eventually switch to the more open Republican con artists. That is if they can ever scrape two nickels together and get a chance to exploit others like Obama and his crew are doing to America.
Have you no shame Rosenberg? At long last, have you no shame.

M. Rosenberg needs to get over his love-hate relationship with Obama. Like Bill Maher said, he's the president, not your boyfriend.
As for "the chicken sh*t DLC/BlueDog", the fact that Obama chose Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff perfectly sums up how he wants to treat them.

MJ,
First, Hamilton was a monarchist who dreamed of being King over America. He is one of the least admirable of the founding fathers IMHO.
Second, you (like many others who seem not to get it) need once and for all to admit to yourself that Obama IS a DLC/Blue Dog Democrat. Always was. Always will be. The sooner you finally admit this to yourself the better.

Lin-Manuel Miranda did indeed a great job. I remember I was in one of the Waikiki hotels on Thanksgiving and I saw the rap performance about Alexander Hamilton on the TV. I thought that this is one crazy idea, but funny, still.

I was just browsing the Gatwick parking website when I found your story here. Obama is indeed a very popular image among Americans. He seems to be dedicated to helping the people get their rights respected. The man is decent and I think that people see and appreciate that.

I bet that Alexander Hamilton wouldn't have seen it coming, but would have definitely found something philosophical in all this situation. I enjoyed the show myself while on the Celebrity Cruise and I was pleasantly surprised that rap can rhyme well with the image of a Founding Father.
