MEDIA MATTERS TAKES DOWN LENNY BEN DAVID HERE. Read all about the former American, now Israeli settler, who has made destroying J Street his life's work.

Now Lenny has joined forces with the ZOA.

The Zionist Organization of America is a right-wing fringe group, which regularly engages in Arab and Muslim baiting. (Check out the poster on the ZOA home page).

In my opinion, ZOA is an anti-Arab and Muslim hate group. So, naturally, it is terrified by J Street which has as its goal promoting US diplomacy to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

And, just as naturally, ZOA is promoting the screed against J Street by Israeli settler, Lenny Ben David.

ZOA is particularly enamored by this [articular piece of Ben David's manifesto of all myths, no facts.

It is that before founding J Street, Jeremy Ben Ami "served as senior vice-president of Fenton Communications which, in March 2009, signed contracts with a Qatari foundation to lead an 18-month long anti-Israel campaign in the United States with a special focus on university campuses. The actual text of the contract called for 'An international public opinion awareness campaign that advocates for the accountability of those who participated in attacks against schools in Gaza.' "

Interesting, although considering the sources, I assumed it wasn't true. So I called Ben Ami and he told me, without any equivocation, that that he "resigned from Fenton in February 2008, has no continuing relationship with the firm and until reading these vile lies and attacks had no idea that such a contract existed." In other words, Ben Ami left Fenton in 2008 and is being held accountable for contracts the company signed in 2009.

Ben David and/or Klein could have called Fenton and asked when Ben Ami terminated his relations with the company. They chose not to. They went with lies. And, believe me, they will keep repeating them even though they now know the truth. That is what people like them do. (Read any biography of Joseph McCarthy).

Question. What are J Street's adversaries so scared of? I understand what Lenny is scared of. He's a settler and settlers are obviously afraid that peace will end their unholy enterprise. But what about the other J Street bashers? Are they just afraid of peace? Or is it that, should the Israeli-Palestinian conflict end, it will become much harder to scare money out of senior citizens for their incredibly well-funded organizations, deluxe headquarters, and lush salaries and expense accounts? Promoting the conflict is a business and it is making some people rich. No wonder they hate J Street.

Meanwhile, Israel-firsters Martin Peretz and Michael Goldfarb say J Street is utterly insignificant and write about it, and write about it, and write about it some more.
