Meanwhile, The Kids of Gaza Suffer ++ Max Blumenthal Reports From the West Bank
President Obama didn't say much about Gaza yesterday. The massive suffering in Gaza was a postscript to his statement about the security situation in southern Israel. One would never know from Obama's remarks that Gaza lies in ruins.
Check out this post and video at Israel Policy Forum.
I'm so proud of America these days, but not of our indifference to Gaza.
Here is Max Blumenthal's report from south Hebron. These settlers do to the Arabs precisely what the Cossacks and other pogromchiks did to Jews in the last century. The only difference: as early as Presidents Cleveland and Taft, the US strongly protested those pogroms. Not these.

According to my Bible, the world is only 4,000 years old and all these heroic kids are doing is claiming the land that God--not the UN--gave them.
Man, this fundy stuff sounds stupid even in satire.

The Israeli and US Congress blockade on Gaza is sadistic and immoral. Any chance we could get a list of the US Congressional participants?

sadism is the sexual pleasure obtained by inflicting harm (physical or psychological) on others.
it gives the saying, "don't fuck with the jews!" a whole new meaning.

I'm looking forward to Max's reporting on the next Christians United For Isarel event. CUFI is the T.J. Maxx to Aipac's Tiffanys. Larger, but dumber crowd. And besides "loving" Israel, they also believe the Earth is only 4,000 years old.

In addition to the BDS campaign, I wish there were a serious letter writing campaign every time a bill is introduced in Congress or Committee targeting each sponsor, co-sponsor or signer. Action needs to happen BEFORE any more vile legislation is passed.

Thanks for these links. The Blumenthal report is particularly revealing and apt.

The only answer lies in Israel's economy. Suspend its trading links with the US and/or the EU and watch Likud and Netanyahu start to treat Palestinians like human beings, within a month.
It's exceedingly simple. Ignore AIPAC's threats and just do it! There is no other way. Netanyahu will always twist, turn and prevaricate to delay any progress on Palestinian autonomy and human rights. That is his damaged mindset. But there is no reason for our collective mindsets to ignore human suffering.
I repeat: SUSPEND all trading links until human rights are restored and genuine negotiations for a Palestinian state are under way.

I'd hoped but am now resigned to the prospect of Obama stalling on the peace process and two-state solution. Washington is after all ruled by a specific clique of elites and is immutable. The only hope for justice and peace for all rests in the Jewish community outside and within Israel, to stand firmly against AIPAC and their threats to politicians who do not toe the Likud hard-line, a bit of a David and Goliath match against the Lobby, but at least there's a grassroot movement which makes a difference. It's not even a party issue, as Dem stalwarts like Harman and Pelosi are revealed to be beholden to the clout of the same powerful lobby. I doubt that Obama is able to wield his own voter mandate to restart the process, witness the Chas Freeman affair. This isn't meant to be a discouraging post, far from it, so keep up the pressure, MJ.
