Amazing Video: American Officer In Iraq Spews Filth At Iraqi Police Under His Command
Colonialism isn't new but youtube is.
So now we can see how westerners (not all, put plenty) talk to people they dominate, even those on our side.
I doubt Americans are the worst either. The Brits,, French, Israelis, Germans, Belgians, Dutch, etc, all behave (d) this way.
But it sure makes you cringe. And we wonder: why do they hate us?

What makes me cringe is why our socalled leaders pretend there are any justifiable reasons for our continued military presense in Iraq. I fully support that US soldier. His anger is well justified, though perhaps misdirected. Let Iraqi's settle their own issues. The second US soldiers leave Iraq, the beheadings will resume in force. America's socalled leaders are bent on commandeering Iraq's oil resources. OIL is the ONLY reason for our leaders to waste oceans of blood and treasure in Iraq. America will have to make a deal with one or another devil anyway as long as we are dependent on oil. Quit the pathetic masquarade and pretense of democratizing the ME and the hilarious joke that our socalled leaders give a crap about any Iraqi or any muslim, or any American for that matter that isn't directly involved in access to or administration of oil. Be honest about our marauding intentions, get our soldiers out of Iraq, and let Iraqi's chop each other to pieces. We'll have to cut a deal with who ever triumphs in Iraq just as we formally did with Saddam, as we do with Chavez, and the duplicitous American hating wahabist in the House of Saud, and all the other devils all over this earth who our leaders side with, and cowtow to for access to oil.
Americans will never see any benefit, or gain from the crime scene in Iraq. GET OUT!

I think the sergeant meant all that as a motivational speech. He figures he is doing them a favor. The NCO's think of themselves along the lines of Coach Bob Knight. The soldiers call that a gung-ho talk or RA (Regular Army, rather than reserves).

What would MJ say if he were that non-com? What would be a more appropriate way to motivate those guys to do their jobs?
That said, if the Iraqi police are going to take on the job of the U.S. Army, they ought to have similar equipment (helmets, flak jackets, night vision goggles, heavy weapons, the ability to call in airstrikes) before we start challenging their manhood. Those baseball caps really do make the police look like cub scouts, so it's no surprise that they don't want to engage the Mahdi Army.

Okay, I'll stick my chin out. US basic training officers talk this way to everyone. Okay, they don't mention the Mahdi Army, but I don't think the straight-line connection to colonialism exists.
What's interesting to me is the focus on the Mahdi Army. When was the last time we heard about the Mahdi Army in the press? Is it still as big a deal as the officer makes it out to be?

I think I worked for this guy before he enlisted...

Yeah, I don't see colonial abuse here, MJ. I think it's rude, nasty and mean, but my coaches said more or less the same thing (you know, without the actual death and dying parts) in high school out in the pampered suburbs.
This isn't a faculty meeting or a motivational team lunch at the Olive Garden.

Probably not quite the right way to motivate a Muslim man. In our society, we are accustomed to hearing that and it is no big deal. If you call a Muslim man a woman, you better be ready for a knife fight because he is gonna want to cut you. Better to call a Muslim man a coward than a woman if you are trying to show contempt and not wanting them to turn on you. Yeah, the irony isn't lost on me...
