No Rebirth of the Republican Party
Gov. Bobby Jindal sounds like a junior achiever shuffling Republican cue cards. I don't hear anyone Democrats need fear. (Yet.)

Wow. Pretty lame. He's pushing the old line that Republicans lost the nation's trust because they weren't conservative enough...

The look on his face is out of synch with the words coming out of his mouth. The communication isn't pleasing.. it's almost painful to watch. I've even moved to the other room now, and you can hear the awkwardness in his voice.

"...$8 billion for high-speed rail projects, such as a 'magnetic levitation' line from Las Vegas to Disneyland..."
This is a lie!

Oh. My. God. That was just awful. I was embarrased for the guy, and I already thought he was a jerk.

Wow-- this is the new Golden Boy, the great non-white hope for the GOP? It's just stunning how much they don't get it-- and Messenger Jindal was painful to watch.

Bonus points are in order for a great turn of phrase!

The hyporcritical lockstep partisans in the gop, and ignorant biggotted wingnuts in redneck Amerika, are arch enemies and dire threats to the security and prosperity of poor and middle class Americans.
The gop is the party of the superrich, the predator class, by the superrich, the predator class, and for the superrich, the predator class exclusively and singularly. Every other American in the gop eye is an integer, a digit in thier fascist calculous.
Democrats must hammer this truth and fact through to the American people until the gop, the patholigical liars, warmongers, and fascists wanton profiteers in the bushgov, and the biggoted racist hatefilled hordes in redneck Amerika are marginalized tappedout, chokedout, knockedout, and submitted. These beasts are wrong. They have not been right on any issue or any policy. All we have to measure are countless failures, abuses, treasons, perversions, betrayals, and wanton profiteeringing.
The gop and Asmodeaus - I mean cheney's fascist cabals do not deserve of warrant any credibility or legitimacy, or recognition. Their fascist policies have FAILED miserably. They have not been right on any issue. They, the fascists cabals in the cheney/bushgov, the lockstep partisans in the gop, and the ignorant biggoted racist hordes in wingnut Amerika are pathological liars and traitors who have not been right on anything, on any issue that impacts poor and middle class Americans. The predator class alone benefits under gop wingnut leadership, - everyone else gets shafted.

I thought Jindal had some appeal. But listening tonight he sounded like some inspirational speaker trying to motivate a group of forth graders. It is in the voice inflections. Does the GOP really think that treating the country a group of illiterates students will work?

Remember where you are, and please be careful never to misunderestimate Republican condescension ever again.

Check back on old YouTube clips, and he has much more of a Louisiana accent.
Last night, he had much less accent.
I believe that he has been coached to present a more "mainstream" accent, and this accounts for his problems with delivery.

Jindal is not a joke (some days are an exception), but he is certainly not a threat. He just doesn't have "it". They can't all be Obamas but he's missing something.

I guess the word is be careful what you wish for.
Jindal is a stiff. As I think back on past Republican spokesman, I dont really remember anyone with any "Elvis" appeal.
I still think Jindal looks like Alfred E. Neuman.

One would have to have a heart of stone not to laugh at the Republican rebuttal.
The only possible improvement that comes to mind : have Eric Cantor instead of Jindal.
The mind reels.

A conservative friend of mine told me in an email yesterday afternoon I'd be "impressed" by Jidal. I'm very impressed -- it's a stunning accomplishment for any political party to hold the levers of power so firmly a few short years ago to have plummeted so far into the political abyss that Bobby Jindal is their standard-bearer. Citigroup futures are trading higher than the GOP's considering this man was ostensibly The Great Right Hope. We are witnessing the end of a national political party's influence. All we need is for things to get even a LITTLE BIT better by 2010 and you can put a fork in it.

that so many exist in this country should shock no one.
he is an embarressment to intelligence.
any more proof needed as to where fox news for ex. gets its ratings from?

I'm with Rachel, speechless, but then kinda hard to compete with a man who was born to be President.

I thought I was listening to a seventh-grader at a science fair.
It killed me when he slammed the volcano eruption research. Guess he doesn't believe in hurricane research either.
It was a no-win situation for Jindal. I want to know who set him up for that speech? They should have trotted out some old party hack like Kentucky Sen. Jim Bunning, who has a secure seat and no political future.
All I know is, it was a happy day in Wasilla.

Jindal looks like a cartoon character. But people of sense may not be impressed by him or by Palin, but look how popular she is with the right, while progressives were duped into failing to see the sniping at Caroline Kennedy for the agenda-driven anti-Kennedy creepiness that it is. We would up with someone as senator from NY who is BOTH less progressive and less intelligent.
But there is still zero chance that liberals and radicals will learn the lesson of pursuing authenticity in practice, as they are too geared to throwing in the towel in the larger picture, and to going for those (more subtle) golden parachutes, while the ice-caps melt
