What do you mean, he's reminding us of the great triumph that was our response to hurricane Katrina. Remember when barack Obama and the Democrats totally botched the federal response?
Keep talking Bobby!

Yeah, that was one of the worst speeches I've ever seen on national TV.
Is that all you got?

Did someone tell Jindal he was giving a Governor's Mansion tour to an elementary school class? WTF was that?

He was talking to the mass of Conservative Republicans.
This differs from an elementary school class how?

He was channeling Mr. Rogers. I kept waiting for the line, "Say, did you hear that knock at the door. Why look, it's Mr. Mailman."

Got to admit, that hundred-yard stare was pretty amusing. The guy has been on TV before, hasn't he? I've seen better performances on public access.

I don't want to be in his shoes when he figures out that he was set up. Poor thing. Really. But he should have known better.

I agree Yva, he should have known. And yet, self-mutilation is the scourge of our nation's disaffected youth.

You think this is bad, do a little research on Sheriff Lee (referenced in Jindal's speech).

Ah, Jefferson Parish's finest. I remember back when Harry got himself in trouble by talking about randomly stopping African-Americans in old cars as an anti-crime tactic. That was after he let a rapist walk around free as a favor to a political buddy -- which was a little less effective for crime control.
Good times, good times. I think Bobby's got a long way to go in understanding politics outside the parish level.

He had to know he was set up...he had a grim look on his face while giving a speech that had no passion in it. Could have been witnessing a politician's aspirations for national office crash and burn before lift-off.

Keep that guy away from my kids, especially my son.

Here's my thought in response to Josh's question about how Jindal can save his political career. It's not Leno he needs to go on, it is Letterman.
And he needs to grow a bushy beard and not wash his hair first. He should wear glasses and put his gum under the desk during the interview.
That would help with the late night audience and be almost as embarrassing as his strolling and smiling and stumbling last night.

...says Jindal, I'm 37 and my audience is Mrs. Smith's 3rd grade class....but seriously, he should have talked mostly about how he, as a Republican Governor, is improving people's lives, governing more effectively, meeting the numerous challenges, and making the tough calls. Then contrast that "success" as Governor with the "wasteful", "elitist", and "disconnected" ways of Washington, channeling some of the points made during the political campaign of his party's nominee, John McCain.
Short on inspiration, but long on the talking points....

His national career is finished. If he'd been smart enough to have a national career, he'd have kept his head down for four years, shown that he could do a good job in Louisiana, and let someone else (Sarah Palin?) take the fall in 2012. To oppose effectively anything President Obama proposes at this point, a pol will need sound principles, solid arguments for their case, and two wits to rub together. Unfortunately, from my view from across the Atlantic, Republicans have demonstrated their principles for everyone to see and reject, and their wits don't come in pairs, only halves.
