Amazing: CBS Hires Top GOP & Pro-Rightwing Settler Extremist As Senior VP
Obama may be President. The Dems may run Congress. But the media is running scared of the GOP.
Read this about the new CBS Vice-President, a right-wing extremist, a supporter of the craziest settlers on the West Bank and all out opponent of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
It sounds crazy but it's not. Check it out.
I guess you won't be seeing any more reports from Bob Simon on settler pogroms in Hebron. No wonder the networks are dying.
IT GETS WORSE. READ THIS.

Rip up any olive trees lately, YBD?

Maybe he's too busy shooting at children.

Only if there was a Palestinian school girl seeking shade under it.

The IDF investigated, and declared its findings, that the tree was actually a Hamas terrorist, using the girl as a human shield.

I would find this news distressing if I thought anybody still watched CBS.

Apparently the decision-making ability of CBS' executives is declining in equal measure with their ratings.

Have we considered the obvious: The executives at CBS got an earful after Bob Simon's report and this hire was penance.
Expect to see a 60 Minutes segment next week on how Muslims and Arabs eat their own children.

Simon will probably have to do (another) segment on the wall in Sderot with all the collected rocket parts.

I told my wife, "ol' Bob (Simon) must be retiring next week" when I saw his report on the settlers.

Maybe he will recant the story. (Like that Republican who criticized Rush....)

CBS must be worried about a shortage of media wingnuts now that Bill Kristol is out at the NY Times :)

Not so much a shortage as a "FOX-y" concentration, wouldn't you say? :)

CBS = Conservative Bull****. It's been that way ever since they fired Dan Rather for telling the truth.

Thanks for the article, I won't be watching CBS anymore and I will try to get my e-mail list to do the same. Thanks for the tip.

Lets not forget it was CBS who partnered with the right wing nuts such as Ann Coulter in the case against Dan Rather.

I think this is all political. The forces are out to get the Republican party back in power. There efforts will fail, Americans have caught on to the games they play.

At the risk of agreeing with YBD, which I don't, he is correct that there is nothing wrong with CBS from taking a "line different from the government." Obviously CBS is not supposed to be a media apparatchik of the government, unless its president has the initials GWB, which is then just a happy, harmonious and serendipitous synergy of compatible ideals and values that all of us share deep down. Don't we?

Redstone has controlling interest and Moonves is CEO.
Would these two gentlemen have had anything to do with the appointment ? To what sort of politics do they subscribe ?
Do they resemble C Montgomery Burns and Mr Waylon Smithers, at all ?

$ $ $ What if CBS could attract 1\2 of the goose-stepping "ditto heads?" Any port in a storm!

That is what 90% of the GOP geniuses and perhaps two-thirds of the Big Party base and vile really and truly believe. If decent political grown-ups start going into convulsions every time the neocomrades and their fellow-travelers and their dupes have the bad taste to say something like that out loud in public, we won’t live long enough to see whether St. Barack manages to slay the dragon or not. There is bound to be more and more of it, after all: our FGP, "fundamentally good people," have not yet altogether taken in that, over and above not bein’ able to control the Wicked Fedguv any longer, they can hope even to obstruct successfully except by prodigies of Big Party unity attained hitherto only by M. Stalin’s CPSU and, possibly, by the Gadarene swine.
The sweet puppies of Wingnut City are in a foul mood already, a mere five weeks into the Radiant Dawn, and naturally one must hope that the good guys will prove able to make ’em feel far worse still. Under the circumstances, rattling their cages just for fun seems a bit uncharitable. Quite apart from charity, it would be better tactics to keep the ideological puppies snappin’ at one another as much as possible rather than at innocent outsiders while the post-McCain rabies runs its course.
Incidentally, the FGP are cuter when they get mad, are they not?
Happy days.
