Neocon "Freedom's Watch" Goes Belly Up PLUS Expose on US Money Laundering Operation To Fund Settlers

Some pre-holiday cheer. The neocon outfit, Freedom's Watch, has bitten the dust.

In the words of Monty Python, "This parrot is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late parrot. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-parrot."

And Freedom's Watch is an ex-warmongering organization.

It turns out that its sugar daddy, Sheldon Adelson, the casino magnate, lost a few billion in the recent Wall Street troubles. Down to his last dozen billion or so, he can no longer afford to feed the family and spend a fortune supporting escalation in Iraq, war with Iran, and the continued expansion of West Bank settlements.

Sweet. I feel much as I did when the New York Sun went under.

For those of you who want to recall the past glory of Freedom's Watch, here is a fine profile.

A truly patriotic organization, dedicated to the proposition that other peoples' children need to preserve the neocon dream, even if it costs them their lives.

And here is an investigative report by Phil Weiss and Adam Horowitz on how wealthy Americans are illegally funding West Bank settlers with tax exempt donations.

Sweet. And here's a great profile of Adelson himself from the New Yorker this summer:

More than 70 generals were hired by the Pentagon to plug the Iraq war sometime before we ever entered it. They were given "access" to sensitive Pentagon sources and all expenses paid to visit war sites. The access was sold to defense contractors and the generals were paid nicely and they received extra income from the news sites. McCaffrey is the most famous. But I am trying to track down some others and I wonder if there were any connections with this group that just died or similar war mongering
groups that benefit not only from right wing billionaires, but defense contractors as well.

Rumsfeld's General Meyers had his head up Rummy's ass so far his eyes are now brown. Both of them were disgusting.

Boycott the Venetian in Vegas! It's Adelson's.

Thanks for the good news. Nice to see just before bedtime, makes for good dreams.
I thought Freedom Watch might try to hang on - drum up more donations with more frenzied fearmongering. Glad it turned out different.

MJ: Christmas has come early. I really regret not shorting LVS over the last 12 months. It's dropped from $122 to about $5. And some people say there is no God!
