"That one." (Rehashing the conflicts of the '60s, for your Internet pleasure.)

...doggone it, there you go again looking back at the 60s instead of looking forward and ranting about That One paling around with 'new and improved' terrorists...

1969 revisited:
"Said Uncle Sam ain't no woman
You know he sure can take your man
Well, there's 40,000 guys in the service list
Doin' somethin' somewhere they just don't
understand
Well, I'm gonna do some fightin'
Of that I can be sure
Said I'm gonna do some fightin'
Of that I can be sure
Well, now I want to kill somebody
Won't have to break no kind of law"
Why are we still arguing over Vietnam? 58,000 men died--for what? Don't tell me they died for my freedom, or for me or anything about me. My life had not changed before they died, and did not change after they died. They died for no reason other than they were thrust into harm's way.
Until the public is capable of grasping that our leaders engage in military adventures that have nothing to do with our defense, that have nothing to do with keeping us 'safe at night' we can never progress as a civilization. We're stuck in an impractical mythology that falsely glorifies militarism. ANY and EVERY form of militarism, no matter how wrong or ill conceived.

Damn, he was good. I haven't seen that fight for years, but it never fails to amaze me. It's not just the way he delivers a punch, but the way he never lets Terrel land a thing. This fight perfectly exemplifies Ali's style. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee indeed.

I don't know what McCain can do tonite which will satisfy the jacked-up expectations of base followers. "I'll whip his you-know-what".
McCain has put himself in an awful spot, one which he must know is not within his capabilities to carry off sucessfully.
And worst of all, he must somehow bring Ayers to the debate. To just not bring it up will be a defeat, from everything I've seen for a week out of McCain's campaign, except for McCain's lame attempt to walk it back in the past day or two.
What the hell is he gonna do? Pull out a huge Flow chart detailing the degrees of seperation between Ayers and Obama? What?

I love this clip. I made a similar post the day after the "That One" Debate because I was immediately reminded of this situation...
Will disrespectful Johnny get his comeuppance tonight?

All Johnny has to do to get his comeuppance is nothing. He can't fail. If he does say something, he gets it worse. Now there's a guy you want leading the nation with his chin.
