Next Palin News
My writer friend in Los Angeles, Jeff Levin, has had a vision of the next Palin news story:
PALIN AGREES TO INTERVIEW SELF

WASHINGTON (DP) - Following on the heels of the McCain campaign issuing a report clearing Gov. Sarah Palin of any wrongdoing in the so-called Troopergate affair, the campaign is now dealing with the demand that Palin submit to more interviews.
Campaign officials announced that they have agreed to allow the governor to be interviewed by herself.
"We understand the desire of the American people to get to know Gov. Palin," campaign spokesman Nick Mavis told reporters at McCain campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. "Voters can get to know her even better if she not only answers the questions, but also asks them."
Mavis said that the interview would be hard-hitting and that no questions would be off the table.
"She's been a reform-minded governor," Mavis pointed out, "so she knows how to ask the tough questions. Just ask Todd and the kids."
Some conservative observers responded positively to this latest surprise in the McCain campaign.
"It's a maverick move," said Republican commentator Kaybeau Cannon. "But this is what you'd expect from a team of mavericks."
However, not all McCain supporters were certain that the interview would be conducted fairly.
"Look--I have my doubts," said former senator Ed Ransome. "Just in the last few weeks it's come out that she supports Obama's positions on incursions into Pakistan, a federal privacy right, and an oil windfall profit tax. She's obviously biased against herself."
Many in the media believe that the format of the interview will be the key to how well Gov. Palin performs.
"It'll be interesting to see if she allows herself to take follow-up questions from herself," said Will Ditzer of CNN. "If she can keep herself from following up with herself, she'll probably come out of this thing unscathed. It's fascinating."
Later in the day, officials with the Palin campaign told reporters that the governor has vowed not to reveal the questions to herself in advance. They issued the following statement from Palin:
"I look forward to the opportunity to address the real issues faced by hockey moms and Joe Six-Packs at kitchen tables and soccer games across this great country of ours. I know myself to be a pretty tough cookie and I expect to get hit with some darn hard questions. It won't be a walk in the park. But am I ready? You betcha."

Sen Biden (albeit belatedly) had a good zinger on Gov Barracada....

The 263 page report is due today but the committee has to vote on whether to release it to the public.
In the meantime, want to follow the timeline? Go here

I am so glad to read that Ms. Palin had agreed to an interview with herself; it the only way that she would approve the questions and not get "annoyed."
Stories in the NYTimes and WaPo this morning about her, I hope she reads them and is ready to rebut them.

On a side note, how is it possible to have a "team of mavericks"? I know you're just kidding around, but I see others use that phrase as a real description of the McCain/Palin ticket. Team? Maverick? Does it mean that McCain and Palin just ignore what the other wants and run off and do their own things? That's not teamishness we can believe in, my friends.

Ha ha! You mean like a team of loners?
Thanks for pointing that out!
But really I just substitute the word 'rogue' whenever I see hear/see them use the word 'maverick.' That's what they really are - two individual rogues.

yeah, you know - something like a freethinkers group.

I don't know why you ask a question already voluntarily answered by Governor and VP-Candidate Palin. She said -- I remind you -- of Senator and Presidential Candidate John McCain and herself:
"We are mavericks filled with mavericky goodness."
I don't think it could be stated any more clearly, plain-spokenly, and unequivocally than that.
What are you, a member of the liberal media? Or, worse, an existent in the liberal-biased reality-based world?

What if Palin annoys herself during the interview? It could be "gotcha journalism" at its worst again.

After McCain loses (fingers crossed) the election Sarah Palin will be forgotten faster than a fraudulent CDO sold by Goldman Sachs, even by her current rabid fans.
A victim of 'elections as entertainment' brought to you by the Republican Party.

Sen. Brownback was asked by a reporter to explain his claim that Palin "knows more about energy than anybody in the U.S." His answer, "Because she comes from an energy state."
A Republican operative was asked by a reporter to explain his claim that Palin was throughly prepared to be CIChief. His answer, "Because she's a reformer."
Tongue-in-cheek? Not on your life. This is called vetting Republican style.

She's going to interview herself? Preposterous. No one could make this stuff up, not John Stuart, not Tina Fey, or the entire staff of SNl. What we have here is psychologically mind boggling. She expects us to believe her own self-distorted image, as if in a mirror in a funhouse operated by the likes of Papa Doc, Idi Amin, and Richard Nixon.

demokritos,
It's advisable to read more than the title of an article before comenting. Turns out Reed Hundt's friend can make this stuff up. Hot tip for you: try Ritalin, I've heard tell that help the ADD thing. Oh, and watch out for those articles by The Onion, real tricky stuff.

Only problem with interviewing herself is, who's going to put it in front of her, to read?

ROFLMAO. Priceless: "It'll be interesting to see if she allows herself to take follow-up questions from herself," said Will Ditzer of CNN. "If she can keep herself from following up with herself, she'll probably come out of this thing unscathed. It's fascinating."

I'm sure Ms. Palin will show herself proper "deference". If I remember, that is what her campaign expressly demanded from the media.

You don't think she has a potential for insulting herself? Mavericky rudeness, like she shows on the cam-pain trail?

Question:
Do you want a party running your country where the Base of the party has to be told to
BE RESPECTFUL
I have to tell my five year old to be nice. He can't vote. Neither should they.

What would be awesome is if the interview was conducted by Tina Fey doing her uncanny Sarah Palin impersonation. It would peg the Bizarro meter to see Fey helpfully finishing Palin's sentences for her when she stumbles over her sketchy memorized talking points. Then they'd wrap up the interview trading you betcha's and a terrorist fist jab.
