One Down, Two To Go

user-pic

We're happy to announce that as of right now, we've launched onto a new server set-up and so far so good (cross your fingers for us). This should mean that your comments and blog posts should go up very quickly without any errors or repeats. Let us know it that's what you're seeing.

Coming up next (next two weeks is our plan), new software and new tools.

Testing to figure out if this is as awesome as I think it is.

It is.

Not objecting, but why was Schwartz pulled?

user-pic

My mistake. He wasn't. I got confused in the lineup -- you know, the pitcher in the seven hole.

Ellen, you mean Stokes?

Hello, my friends, heh heh heh. (Sorry.)

Golis, are you all going to fix it so that the formatting doesn't get fucked up any more?

Note that this is a login problem and not a server problem. From the day you all launched the new site it has been randomly logging us out even when we look like we're logged in. So, we can write a post while appearing to be logged in, and when we hit send, nope, turns out you need to log in again. The only way to keep from losing what you've written is to copy it before hitting send so that you can paste it after you've logged back in.

But when you do that, the formatting gets fucked up.

The only way to fix this is to fix the login or give us a preview button. I didn't see either in your earlier post about the updates.

Is this going to be fixed?

Yessir. The log-in issues is a software problem, that's the next step before we roll out new tools, and then roll out a few other goodies like comment preview.

For the last hour or so I have gotten the following server error several times, including once trying to post this comment:

The website cannot display the page HTTP 500 Most likely causes: The website is under maintenance. The website has a programming error. What you can try: Refresh the page. Go back to the previous page. More information

This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

And have also been logged out without reason several times today, requiring me to log back in before posting.

P.S. Same thing just happened trying to look at another user's page.

Also, coming back to this thread, I have been logged out, had to sign in to post this p.s.

Andrew,

The archives say they are unavailable until after the server move. Given how fast things are moving, that means I can't see things that were up on TPM Cafe yesterday morning.

Can this be fixed?
