The Ones that Got Away
- Richard Bacon revisits Obama's neighborhood, Hyde Park, Chicago. I just returned to the nabe this past weekend to graduate from U of C, and I have to say I, too, love Valois!
- Deanie Mills writes about her family's repeated deployments in Iraq. "Each successive deployment was more bloody and horrific than the one before." For the first time since the war began everyone in the family is home.
- I hate to contribute to the Tim Russert memorial echo chamber, but parenthetical has a good post up speculating who should take over Meet the Press. Jump into the thread and throw in your own suggestion.

Make that a third Cafe fan of Valois in Hyde Park. Did you know that it plays a role in the book Slim's Table? (check it out)
Is Harold's Chicken Shack, bullet-proof plastic shield and all, still there? This was a favorite Saturday night dinner option that became almost a ritual for many of us in the law school dorm, Burton-Judson.
BTW, congratulations on your graduation. It appears that with Lila Shapiro as another U of C grad now onboard the Cafe staff, the University is well represented!

Who could fill the shoes of Tim Russert's Meet The Press? Hmmm...not in any particular order, but some of these people could consider such an offer from NBC... Scott McClellan, Ron Paul, Hillary, McCain or Obama (TBD in Nov), George Stephenopolius (a promotion), Deedee Myers, someone from Politico.com.
