Fiscally Responsible John McCain

user-pic

John McCain's new Senate Financial Disclosure Form, look like he was either running his campaign off the American Express Platinum Card his wife gave him, or they have one hell of a high living lifestyle.

The bulk of the McCains' obligations stemmed from a pair of American Express credit cards that are held in Cindy McCain's name. According to the disclosure reports, which present information on debts in a range rather than providing a precise figure, Mrs. McCain owed $100,000 to $250,000 on each card.

I know what American Express charges for interest on a Platinum Card. A fiscally responsible household should probably sell some of the million of Anheuser-Busch stock they own and stop paying that 17% ARP on $500,000 worth of Amex charges. There are some other stark contrasts between the McCains and the Obamas. The McCains have a net worth around $40 million, almost all of it from Cindy's holdings. The Obama's net worth is closer to $4 million, most of it earned from Barack's two recent books. Instead of going into debt they have managed to put $250,000 in a college savings account for their two daughters.

McCain's books don't seem to do very well. Whereas Obama earned $ 4 million in the last year in book royalties, only earned $176,488. That's better than his new economic guru Carly Fiorina

Now that Cindy's stopped stealing her drugs, do you think she's charging them on her Amex card?

For those who don't know the whole story, you can read about it here:
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/1999/10/18/drugs/

how can he run the economy if he can't even manage his own money. not only that but they have so much more money then the obamas, that they can afford to pay off their debt. http://sensico.wordpress.com/

Exactly what the country needs, a strung out ex-drug addict born rich heiress first lady and a compulsive gambling 71 year old president with increasing symptoms of memory and language lapses.
McCain loves rolling the dice

I believe their net worth is more like 100 million. They own nine homes in some very exclusive places, and from what I have researched, this is closer to the amount.

Amelie - Agreed. I remember it matching or exceeding the Clintons' $100-110 million.

My understanding is that McCain has a sweetheart deal with American Express so (unlike the rest of America) he pays 0% on the balances.

Obama's Veep Veter had to quit because of a special interest rate, but this is apparently A-OK.

I don't understand why the MSM does not pick up on McCain's zero interest AX card. This is the same kind of sweetheart deal that Johnson got on his mortgage. The foregone interest on McCain's AX debt would easily exceed the amount Johnson saved.

jdledell: Absolutely. There are 2 sets of rules when it comes to personal finance in this country. The movie MaxedOut documents that the FICO & Credit Score Trio keep one set or rules for famous or influential people's files, and one set of rules for average schmucks.

It is not a conspiracy theory to suggest that McCain almost certainly receives a massive, discount or no interest Credit Card for being a "Friend of [Insert Jacka$$ Finance CEO Here]."

I wish we could find some compelling reason why Fiorina could be kicked off his campaign. She's a formidable surrogate, spouting the lines with rapid fire certitude. It gives me the creeps wondering how many people she'll suck in.

Jonathan, the major thing I'd recommend is reading over your text before you hit "send." From beginning to end, this post is a mess.
