The Ones that Got Away
- Robert Feinman writes about Internet Service Providers agreeing with the New York Attorney General to filter child pornography. Using this development as a jumping-off point, Feinman brings our attention to other ways ISPs have been censoring or throttling content for political or profit-driven motives.
Until now the telecom companies have always maintained that they are 'common carriers.' They provide the road and what sort of vehicle you drive or where you are going is of no concern to them.
This is changing, Feinman says.Adding in a bit of censorship to protect 'children' is like the proverbial camel's nose in the tent.
- AmericanDreamer is delighted that Virginia has been getting more Democratic at all levels of government, and particularly calls attention to Judy Feder, who has the chance to unseat Frank Wolf in Virginia's 10th Congressional District.
- Scientific debunks the myth that Clinton lost the nomination because of sexism.
I mean, when it came to her and Pretty Boy Barack, Hillary was supposed to be mas macho. As evidenced by her Iraq vote and hawkish stances, Hillary had a misguided desire to show the boys that she too could be hardcore.
The post goes on to explain how ridiculous it is for Hillary supporters to flock to McCain, especially given his stance on Roe v. Wade and women's rights.Bottom line:
One can't celebrate the historic nature of her campaign while at the same time ignoring her faults, and that's why it's complete crap to allege that sexism sank her ship. She ran an awful campaign, complete with gaffes, poor 'loyalty' hires, bad money management and underestimation of her opponent.
