The Ones that Got Away

user-pic
  • RE comments on the ridiculousness of campaign promises given the financial state of the country. "It's like listening to someone who is going into foreclosure on their house and making plans for a trip to Europe at the same time."
  • Big Blue is at it again. Hillary Clinton is the last (but not least) profile in an Obama veepstakes series.
  • Doug DeLong explores and reports back from the Hillaryis44, the "Church of Hillary." His verdict: "anyone who would so easily abandon their party just because they're miffed that their candidate lost is not a true Democrat."
  • Ingoman calls our attention to journalist Adian Hartley, who has been investigating atrocities of the Ethiopian transitional government and military.

Thanks so much for featuring us in your "The Ones That Got Away" column. We hope you'll keep track of our cabinet series next week. We'll also be featuring some "dark horse" candidates over the weekend.

I recall you were asking for alternate titles for your daily posts. Here are a few more:

1. Notable Quotables (spelling concern here)
2. Posts of the Day
3. Today's Specials
4. Must Reads
5. Delicious Diaries

Big Blue

Thanks for the series!

Hey guys - does Andrew Golis know that you recommended that Hillary is 44 post?

That you did so does somewhat undermine his chastisement of the TPM community here:

;-)

I'm sure he does know. There's a difference between outright bashing and a thought out, well written post like Doug's.

A difference without distinction then. I went back and reread all of Andrew's comments in that thread; I stand by my interpretation of his remarks as a plea to change the subject.

Granted, Doug's post is long and condescending, rather than short and angry, but - as well-written as it is - it does little if anything to move the discussion forward.

Honestly, I don't have any problem with Doug's post (aside from a slight distaste for seeing someone shoot fish in a barrel) or the fact that you chose to promote it. I just found it amusing to see your recommendations juxtaposed with Andrew's complaint that people aren't writing about or recommending anything else.

thanks for the mention, unfortunatly no one seems to care about the economics, more interested in the horse race I guess.

Hey, it's only an additional 22billion a year anyway, no big deal

OK, I lied. Lots of requests for Mark Warner (who was admittedly worth looking at), so here's one more:
