The Ones that Got Away
We're still waiting for a good (not too snarky) name for our new daily Editors' Picks Post. In the meantime, here are today's best reader submissions.
- Big Blue continues profiling Obama's potential VP's. Today: Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius
- Genghis looks at the sobering of the GOP, and its plans to gather voters back into the fold
- Reader ronburgandy reveals John McCain's plans to troll the blogosphere to spread its talking points and TrollCritic 3000 offers a solution
- John H. McFadden rebuts Billy Glad and shows that Obama can rise above the prevailing morality
- DrSteveA considers Israel-Syria peace talks, and how diplomacy really works in the Middle East
- wanderwolf suggests that John McCain may actually be a bigger warmonger than George W. Bush

For a title for these posts, what the heck, as apparently others are not offering enough suggestions so far, I'll toss these out here for others to improve upon:
Diamonds in the Rough (ok, maybe doesn't meet the non-snark test?)
Hidden Treasures
Sunken Treasures
Neglected Nuggets
Of Note
Lost in the Shuffle

I wasn't aware that we were, or are, actually leading anyone. I thought we were just kind of launching electronic characters into cyberspace with the hope that something, somewhere, anywhere, sticks. (If a blog entry or thread comment is not responded to, does it exist?) Maybe I'm just easy this way but personally I get kind of excited when someone simply replies to something I wrote.

hear! hear! I hope this does it for you! heehee
(btw, yes, it does exist, as a point, but not yet a plane, so it doesn't really fly yet!)

Hey, cool. I'm on the front page. I'm quite humbled. As for a title for your new editor's picks. Might I suggest the following:
My Back Pages (can't go wrong with a Dylan rreference)
Lost and Found
Today's Specials
Posts du Jour
I also like the above suggestion of "Of Note" -- it's simple, but clear.

“Desolation Row”? “Idiot Wind”? Okay, more prosaic and in keeping with the Café theme and Dylan: “One More Cup of Coffee”

I would also like to suggest something else for reader blog recommendations. Once a week, Josh should frontpage a "Reader Blog of the Week" post. By doing that you would send more readers to the Cafe and get more of them to create accounts and then more of them start posting reader blogs and creating new pages to view, etc., etc.
And Flyontnewall should be a mandatory frontpage each time he/she posts.

Hmmm.... As far as naming, most of those posts did get pretty good visibility, so I don't think the "hidden treasures" slant quite works.
Something like this would be more fitting, perhaps:
Worth a Second Look
Editors' Favorites
Pick of the Litter
I also like "Of Note" and "Today's Specials"

Kos has Diary Rescue. TPM has a Cafe'. Hmmm. It seems like it should be something related to a Cafe' or something that incorporates TPM or both.
These Posts Matter.
The Prime Messages.
The Purple Messages.
TPM's Daily Scones.
TPM's Daily Specials.
HTH a bit.

My favorite is "Of Note", but I have to say I like your idea almost as much and wouldn't mind in the least if it wins.

I like "Of Note."
Or "Noted."
