First up, Joe Pettit sees a much deeper problem lurking beneath all the Reverent Wright talk: "Barack Obama is being judged guilty until proven innocent on issue after issue. . . it is how we judge most every black person in the United States." Joe's piece is well-argued and provocative -- give it a read.

Next, reader NCSteve (for short) takes a look at the numbers on racially polarized voting patterns.

Resident satirist Genghis explains the symptoms of Hillaria.

Project Vote runs down yesterday's Supreme Court decision to allow mandatory government-issued photo ID checks at Indiana polling stations. This is a major step back for those concerned about the increasing use of vote-suppression tactics on the Right.

Just to distract us from an increasingly nauseating election news cycle, here's reader NYkrinDC's report on the controversial presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy one year in.

Lastly, reader billysumday takes on TPM for taking on Obama for not taking on Fox.

All of this Obama/Wright hoopla is beginning to look awfully contrived to me. As the Rev. Wright said he is open to vice-president. Maybe we are getting a preview of Obama/Wright.

Joe Pettit blames the entire controversy on white racism. I guess that lets both Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama completely off the hook. When Obama joined Wright's congregation, picked Wright as a surrogate father and mentor, drew inspiration from him, took the title of one of his sermons as the title of his book, prayed with him immediately before announcing his presidential bid, made him a member of his campaign's religious advisory council, kicked him off the council when the media scandal erupted, said he couldn't renounce him any more than he could renounce his racist white grandmother who is a typical white person, denounced the media for showing selected video clips of Wright's sermons, then turned around a month later when his poll numbers were dropping and angrily renounced Wright using some of Wright's words from those same video clips to which he previously said we shouldn't be listening, and did what he previously said he couldn't do, it was all the fault of white people because they judge people guilty as soon as they see their dark skin. Yes, I call that "well argued and provocative". Well, provocative anyway. We certainly owe Mr. Obama our apology and our vote. But considering that by Pettit's standards three-quarters of Americans are racists (Hillary supporters and Republicans) I can't imagine why Barack Obama would ever want to be President of such a wicked country.
