Reader Ben Barlett's Sam Harris, Atheist Messiah is a prescient critique of Harris's recent comments on Trinity Church, as well as the Harris Doctrine in toto.

Robert Feinman attempts to clarify the debate on free trade by looking at the dynamics of interstate trade in the U.S. It's an interesting take on an issue that, for all the controversy it's spawned, is rarely understood.

Author and TPM reader Greg Mitchell reflects on the eminent historical sense of George W. Bush, according to which 4,000 American deaths (and countless others) represent only a "comma."

More after the jump. . .

Ronda Hauben points out some perhaps lazy, perhaps disingenuous reporting from both the New York Times and the Washington Post that only serves to ratchet up the specious case against Iran.

It's become clear in the past few days that the Clinton campaign has publicized some pretty obvious half- and untruths. Reader Waldengirl asks Why Hillary's Lies Are Important.

Reader Magister argues against intuition that Clinton remaining in the race actually benefits the Democratic party.

Thomas McDonald re-frames the Democratic nomination debate in terms of paternalism and responsibility.

Reader ovcatto offers a very sincere apology to Pat Buchanan for the nearly criminal lack of gratitude to the U.S. shown by the black population at large.

Finally, on the lighter side, resident celeb Sinbad urges Clinton to consider him for her running mate. The ticket would come with the irrestable bumper sticker tag-line: "Sinbad/Clinton '08 - One is a comedian, the other is Sinbad.
