You know, I really did get tired of being outrage about a week ago. And I'm feeling much better now.

So you're up for more outrage Destor?

; )

user-pic

Yeah, I could probably be provoked!

The Democrats have already been SWIFTBOATED by the Republicans and the Media by giving Obama positive press and Hillary negative press since the Media is the force that chooses the candidate. Democrats do not even realize yet that they have been SWIFTBOATED. McCain will beat Obama. The Media knows that. Hillary will beat McCain and that is why they have been negative on her. It is sad to see so many people that have been fooled. It was a smart move by the Republicans to SWIFTBOAT us Democrats before we even knew what was happening. It is not too late to wise up and vote for Hillary. It will tick off the Media and the Republicans when they find out we have wized up to their plan.

user-pic

So I guess on the outrage question that's a no?

As a topic, how about

"Will the media's narrative of the '08 campaign ever include anything about climate change, the issue by which all others pale in comparison?"

or

"Will the media ever ask any of the candidates whether or how much they would repudiate any of Bush's executive-branch excesses, from extreme secrecy to abuse of signing statements and more?"

Lame hacks like Wolf Blitzer or fake-objective equivocators like Tim Russert and many print reporters ought to delve into these issues, but not a chance.

user-pic

Nancy Pelosi's recent photograph in solidarity with the downtrodden of Tibet would seem less disingenuous were she to simultaneous support justice toward the millions of Iraqi dead and displaced by calling for the impeachment of those responsible for deceiving us into war: Bush and Cheney.

user-pic

Doesn't the logic of that basically mean that only those who have called for impeachment are allowed to take moral stands on any other issue?

Dunno. How about boycotting the 2008 Beijing Olympics? What do the candidates say about this?

user-pic

No, that's too general, Andrew. It would be "only those" Speakers of the House, speaking for the house.

Good to see you,
Tish

user-pic

I am doubleplus OUTRAGED at your NAIVE (or is it calculated?) SUGGESTION that it might be legitimate to think that such a thing as OUTRAGE FATIGUE might ever set in. Obviously you are stooging for George W. Bush.

user-pic

I'm am outraged that you would call me a stooge. You, my friend, are a Judas monster.

user-pic

Well Andrew, I for one have no time for outrage now that you've got my mind twisted around figuring out if Tiger Woods is black or not! I guess I'll talk about that!

After extensive research (ok a few minutes of online searching) I discovered that he is in fact several ethnicities (not unlike a large majority of us). And while according to anyone's math he is at most 25% black I did begin to wonder about how important numbers really are. Perhaps we need an Ethnictoral College. I mean if there were an Ethnictoral College which chimed in to have the final say on these things there'd be no problems! Maybe we're getting twisted up in reality, numbers and convenient prejudices and perhaps that's where we're running aground in this case. Maybe what we need is an Ethnictoral College to sort this confusing mess out for us and to decide clearly and definitively what each and every one of us really is!

*Warning* Once this happens people will no longer be allowed to pretend to be Irish on St. Patrick's day (among other cross-ethnic festivities and the like).

user-pic

You gotta read the link, McBoo! From the NYTs piece:

And don’t get my husband started on why Tiger Woods — whose mother is three-quarters Asian and whose father was one-quarter Chinese and half African-American — is rarely hailed as the first Asian-American golf superstar.

user-pic

LOL!

Yeah Andrew, I read it and it's still so very confusing with each state, and in some cases cities, making their own rules for how to determine what a person "is". We need a clearly defined systemto help us all out. All the more reason for the College right! ;-)

user-pic

McBoo!!!!!!!!

I have not a drop of Irish blood, but as my daughter is "mostly" Irish, I wear the green, and make her corned beef. Izzat O.K.?

Andrew...

Outrage fatique: will it ever set in?

I'd think TPM would hope not, but for me it has, dude, it has.

:)

user-pic

Haha, workerbee.

If it were up to me we'd all just be human beings (with exemptions made for those who have proven themselves otherwise - Cheney comes to mind) and I'd leave it at that. But unfortunately it seems that there are a number of people who get their jollies on exclusivity and that still think those old tribal kinds of groupings are still relevant in this era. I know they still exist but I'm skeptical if many of them are even true anymore - they seem more vestiges of times best forgotten but I suppose that's debatable. I was just trying to make a suggestion to help clear up all this apparent ethnic confusion! But you're such a good person workerbee that I'm sure we could find a loophole for you (and your "mostly" Irish daughter!) ;-)

By the way I'm feeling so very motivated today that I've moved beyond Outrage fatigue and moved directly to Fatigue fatigue. I may even market an entire line of Fatigue fatigue fatigues so that we can all be uniformly fatigued. (ba-dum-dum)

If I stay this motivated I might just get my taxes done before I need to apply for an extension.

user-pic

I refer to myself as a "mutt."

Anyone that knows anything knows that mutts are better looking (sometimes), smarter, and generally more easy going.

What I want to know is when the mutts will be fairly represented, when I can buy some fatigue fatigues, and whats for dinner. In that order. Lets not bring up taxes until the 10th or so.

You're the good person. I'm just a mutt.

:P

Tiger is a Comblinasian Monster! Nuff said.

user-pic

I don't have any topic suggestions, but I do want to say that Hillary Clinton's supporters are the worst thing this nation has ever seen and they are completely tearing the Democratic Party in two.

user-pic

I don't have any topic suggestions, but I do want to say that Barack Obama's supporters are the worst thing this nation has ever seen and they are completely tearing the Democratic Party in two.

user-pic

Thank you for bringing us back to reality CSCS. Thank goodness for your rational approach! :D

On a related note - with the Democratic party torn in two that would mean that each half was only 50% Democrat. Which leads me to ask "What are the other halves?" At that point we may need to think carefully about which is more Democratic than the other. More fun times ahead!

In the meantime - Fishsticks and Tatertots for dinner!

user-pic

Hah, naughty cscs, I got your number, I know what you're up to, role playing a troll, it's a test to see how fatigued they all are. :-)

Yea, verilee, it takes a mighty warrior to continue to put out outrage every day against Clinton campaign daily talking points, day after day after day, especially when only your own echo chamber manages to read the stuff. Didya notice that a common default theme taking over: "Hillary must drop out?" Fatigue, pure and simple, they just can't get the outrage up any more. Time to move back to Kumbaya? Personally, as Kumbaya was a little bit before my time, I always preferred the CocaCola song:

I'd like to buy the world a home, furnish it with love grow apple trees, honey bees and snow white turtle doves

I'd like to teach the world to sing,
in perfect harmony
I'd like to buy the world a Coke,
and keep it company

user-pic

First candidate to use the coca cola song gets my vote!

user-pic

cscs,

is it possible we're seeing a battle between the corporate friendly DLC and the Libs?

If so, I'm rooting for the Libs.

user-pic

This week. You left off "this week."

Next week will be Obama's supporters' turn to be the scourge of the Democratic Party.

user-pic

Tiger is an interesting case. The fact that he is considered black is a legacy of our racist past. There was a time that any provable negro ancestry was enough to make one black and hence liable to racial discrimination. Indeed there were new words for each per-centage of that ancestry such as mulatto and quadroloon. That we can easily talk about the absurdity of these designations is, it seems, a good indication that, like the Obama campaign, the times are really changing.

There is no race.

user-pic

Something to truly get outraged about: they may stop making one of the finest candy tastes in the world, a "secret" known only to Wisconsites and ex-Wisconsinites:

http://www.savethecandyraisins.com/

Please sign the petition! This is serious stuff!

Why do people say Tiger Woods is black? Before I answer that question, I want to know if this unique to the United States?

user-pic

Bulworth was right. "We've got to keep f***ing each other until we're all the same color".

A couple of weeks ago, someone here claimed that there is a way of gaming the "recommends" but didn't say how to do it. Lately, I see a lot of recommends for posts that I know TPM Cafe readers wouldn't normally recommend.

Any thoughts?

Doesn't matter if he is white black red orange or green. Its GOLF....

user-pic

Well, green would be a problem. No contrast on the golf course for the cameras. Unless it's Sunday.

How about where's the tolerance, dude?

OR, How about how do democrats plan to assuage fears from independents and Republicans alike with thier economic plans which carries the cries of higher taxes for working americans and more regulation for American business which puts them at an economic disadvantage?

Can they explain how regulation in the past has saved Americans money and made the process more equatiable for all concerned?

How are higher taxes against the rich or the top wage earners in America going to be beneficial to America as a whole in the coming future?

Why are the democratic platforms so much more substantive that the Republicans planned proposals?

What kind of financial effects has the war had on oil cosumption due to miltray invovlement and is there any blowback in its effect on food prices?

So many questions and so little infomration!

user-pic

I want to go into a coma and not come out of it until November 9.

you too! Do you think they would call that vacation time or sick pay?

user-pic

Long-term rehabilitation.
