More Recommended Reader Blogging
I'd like to point our readers to a blog post from last night by member David Headman titled, Cultus, not Cult: Obama and the Rationality of Civic Religion. The assertions we've seen popping up more and more recently that Obama's growing following represents a sort of "cult of personality" raise a number of interesting questions. Headman's argument, boiled down, is that, "What Obama's huge crowds represent is not a cult, but a group of people engaging in the practice of cultus." Take a look.

That you feel a reason to mention front-page Cafe posts suggests either the posts or the format are not working. Since in days past, religion was a reliable comment-generator (lots of contention, comment stris in the 100's) I come down on format at fault.
The current Cafe main page is picking up very few comments on any subject.

Well, this software change is obviously not a labor saver, however, interns are not expensive. :-)
I might point out that there is still no way on the front page for those who might like to take the time to go back past the single page to look at slightly older contributor posts. None of the sub-categories on the Cafe Features menu at are working reliably and there is no page two for the front page--this probably has to do with working on the database, at least I hope so, since that is how I would still like to use the site, to look at the main contributors' posts. Meantime, I don't have the intern here in the room to find them for me.
Interesting to come upon this post by accident from two weeks ago

I remember that post. I also remember it said nothing about what would be lost.
