Short Version

user-pic

Adding troops to our forces in Iraq has been so successful that now we need to stay in Iraq forever.

Do I have that right?

We can see how truly knotted is the rope the next President has to untie.

The new linguistics are truly out of this world - and beyond sanity!

Not to worry; the rope will untie itself -- eventually.

Adding troops to our forces in Iraq has been so successful that now we need to stay in Iraq forever.

Do I have that right?

No, it's not that we have to stay in Iraq forever. It's that we get to stay in Iraq forever. Wrangling an open-ended invitation to put down stakes in Iraq was the sought-after prize all along.

Bush would not have been able to commit as many atrocities as he has been able to and the mess he has made of Iraq would not have been nearly what it is if Democrats had stood up for what they all knew was right and strongly opposed the authorization for the illegal/immoral invasion of Iraq as it was their duty to do. There is simply no good excuse for their indefensible support for the invasion in the first place.

The shameful behavior of nearly every important and influential Democrat in both houses of Congress (and the entire corporate media) in supporting that resolution is what put us in this horrendous position. TheDemocrats abrogation of their constitutional duty to check an irresponsible and downright stupid executive whim has reaped a very bitter harvest indeed. Even now, the most entrenched and powerful Democrats of Washington DC do little by way of using their power to block these ongoing moronic moves by Bush. Their limpwristed opposition is an embarassment and a disaster for the nation.

It makes me sick to think about how many more young American men and women will be made to die as a result of the cowardice of Congressional Democrats these past several years, not to mention the innumerable Iraqis who will die. Yes, Bush is the worst President in US History by a mile, but the Congressional Democrats were the enablers.

The Republicans could not have done this alone and they cannot continue to get away with doing more of this bullshit alone. They need Democratic votes to keep it all going and thus far, Democrats have been willing to play ball with them and allow this ongoing fiasco to continue unabated. It's an absolute disgrace.

Then, clearly, there's only one thing to do. Elect more Democrats!

In appreciation of your consideration, I remain

No matter how knotted the rope may be, I only hope that it's put to constructive use & tied around the necks of each & every person responsible for this tragedy. At least then there will be something remotely resembling justice to be be gotten from this whole horrific affair. There's plenty of rope and more than a few necks that deserve stretching. The planet is soiled by their very being.

I include the punditry on this list too BTW. Their words are on the record and the rope should be more than adequate to reach their vile necks... Truely they are a chapter that will shame humanity for the remainder of our existence.

Harsh perhaps but certainly warranted.

I don't know if I would make comparisons to a Gordian Knot when we already have a wanna-be Alexander in office.

Yes, not to worry. If the value of the dollar keeps falling, these trillion dollar commitments won't matter at all.

That may be the desire. The implementation is rather like the southern exposure of Bucephalus moving north.
