Deadskins Interim Report
A persistent failure to confront the
reality of a hapless offense. Defense good, but prone to fatigue and blunders under pressure. A confusion of coaches, coupled with a lack of accountability. Stubborn optimism and repeated planning errors.
No back-up for anyone or anything. An appearance of being trapped in a rigid and erroneous world-view. Mediocrity on a good day (like today), and on bad days terrible outcomes.
It's the description of Redskins' Coach Joe Gibbs, whilom hero of Washington when a much younger man. But as a portrait of failure it seems there are multiple copies circulating in this town.

After watching the disaster which was my Eagles losing to the Bears yesterday I've decided to forego sports for the next 10 years.

Tsk, tsk, Reed - "Redskins" is bad enough from the American Indian POV, but "Deadskins" ups the racism ante quite a bit. You know, "the only good Indian is a dead Indian." It's karmic - until the team responds to the demography of its home port and changes its name to "Washington Negroes", it deserves to fail.

Hey Reed:
Please focus more on keeping media ownership in check with your FCC connections and less on rich druggie kids in ugly uniforms humping a leather ball out on the lawn.
One is real life the other is fantasy. You decide which is which.

Is there a shortage of sports blogs where this content would be apropriate? Do you suffer from a shortage of friends that are into sports so you must discuss it wherever you are? Do you post political posts on sports blogs? Why must sports polute every medium for comunication?

Reed has been blogging about the Redskins here since he showed up. I have no problems with it...
I like your passion Reed. You definitely don't surgcoat things. You might be right the game might have passed Gibbs by. Look at Cowher in Pittsburgh...he was smart and got out on top. I am thinking that maybe Coach Gibbs might find more success back on the NASCAR circuit as an owner there again. The Boys, Eagles, and G-Men have all improved over the years but Skins are going nowhere.

LOL...Ouch!!!
At times I used to think they were the Boston Red Sox of the NFL. But both (combined) have finally won some titles. Just for the record, living in CT, I have dual allegiances. One NFC team (The Giants) and one AFC team (The Patriots). It has been a good football year so far for me...Big Blue is 5-2 and The Patriots are scary good this year at 7-0. I just gotta hope the 2 teams never meet in a Super Bowl...I wouldn't know who to root for then, lol.

I believe that the American peoples distraction from the issues of the day by sports and who is poking whom with what in Hollywood is a major problem with the electorate. If that makes me a guy with a stick up his ass in your book I am fine with that. And yes, I find the asumption made by sports fans that everybody else shares their retarded passion for caring who wins when grown men play childrens games insulting and irritating.

C'mon Larry...nobody "made you" or "expected you" to be interested in sports. You posted on this thread on your own volition. I don't think any sports fan here would ever say that they expect everybody to share their "passion" for sports. In fact after reading your views on sports it makes me question your intent in being on this thread.
And the argument that sports is the cause of Americans "distraction from the issues" is one of the tail wagging the dog. People would probably not follow "the issues of the day" any closer if all sports were abolished in America. And many people who are into sports are just as passionate about those issues confronting our nation. Reed is a good example of that as is Keith Olbermann as is Chris Dodd who was seen at the Indians Red Sox play-off game this past weekend...as are many thousands of others.

LOL...Ya had to go and bump this and remind Reed of the Skins game from this past weekend Ellen? It was a rout but it did help reinforce his point in this post if nothing else...
