Post-Vacation Open Thread

And I'm back! Thanks to Evann for taking care of things in my absence. California (the Homeland) was wonderful. It turns out the weather there is quite a bit nicer than it is here in NYC.

I was able to go unplugged for most of the trip, so catch me up. What did I miss?

Evann had a great post. We're suckers for Habermas...

Oh, and Bush and Cheney were impeached.

OK, just kidding about that last thing...a blogger can dream, though...

It turns out the weather there is quite a bit nicer than it is here in NYC.

Ya think? Can't beat west coast weather.

Oh, yes, and Cheney was President.

No, really.

I know: even scarier, if that is possible.

Don't leave us next time.

Goodbye & welcome back!

You've left our fair state but I'm glad the weather was pleasant for your visit. It's been a pretty fair summer thus far but I know the real hot days will hit us soon enough. But I think I'd still take these hot days over the NYC ones...I remember those none too fondly!

Well, for one, Gonzales is back at a Senate Committee lying again.

Yeah, big news was Cheney being President.

What I find remarkable is that they could find someone to persuade Cheney to do Bush's job, i.e. not run the country for a couple of hours.

Well yes, I've been watching that. Pretty amazing, eh?

Andrew,

what I find amazing is the amount of huffing and puffing going on by the Democrats while nothing substantive happens to the Bush gang.

Christ, Feingold can't even get a Censure motion passed. The last I read, Harry Reid won't allow it to come up.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Democrats aren't trying to run the clock out on the Bush administration without angering anyone
with contempt citations, impeachment, or other hard hitting, though justifiable, actions.

Big news since you left:

Evann got all intellectual on us (successfully)

Greg Sargent posted an old video of Rudy G. cursing, dividing the TPMers a bit.

Ann Althouse developed a raging crush on Greg Sargent.

The NYT published a picture of John Edwards in front of Hillary signs.

Doctors searched for Bush's brain.

Oh, and we need another 6 months in Iraq. But this'll be the last time, we swear.

That should get you up to speed.

What's been happening? Al Qaeda is stronger than ever. Or maybe not. Depends on which day of the week and which administration official is doing the talking.

Ann Althouse has a wicked crush on Greg Sargent. It's embarrassing, really.

Doctors searched for Bush's brain.

And they found it, and removed it from his large intestine. It took this long to find it because they didn't think to look there.

There's probably more, but I'll channel Gonzalez and say I don't recall...

Such excellent snark!

Thanks for the laugh, especially the one about Bush's brain.

Our leopard gecko, Ms. Glubber (formerly Mr. Glubber) has now gone four montsh without eating. But she seems fine!

More 'signals', more muted threats, more lack of action...I'll believe it (that the Democrats mean business in changing the status quo) when I see SOMETHING, ANYTHING meaningful actually DONE.

SeeDee

Very good re-cap, destor23,,,Oh, and as someone mentioned, Cheney got to be ACTUAL president instead 'acting' of through his puppet.

Although Cheney was interred in his usual 'secure location' blasted from the bedrock under the Naval Observatory, and all visitors, all communications, all emails, and all records of what he did were destroyed the same day, rumors leaked out that he was asleep through the whole thing.

SeeDee,

that's the way I feel. Don't tell me, show me.
