Thompson as Lobbyist Meme Gaining Ground
Rather than "Actor-Candidate", some reporters are actually beginning to notice that Fred Thompson's day job for many of the last thirty years was as a corporate lobbyist, often on behalf of global corporations at the expense of American workers. See this Washington Post story starting to highlight the big bucks lobbying by lobbyist-candidate Thompson.

Can anyone show me ANY congressperson who ISN'T a lobbyist for BIG BUSINESS?
Congress is nothing but a PARLIMENT OF WHORES, anyway. Hell, that's the only reason they get political "contributions" - they sell their damned souls.
You don't have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

No Congressman is a lobbyist for Big Business or anything else. A lobbyist is someone who meets Congressmen "in the lobby" and attempts to convince him by means honest or dishonest to support their agenda.
Lobbyists lobby Congressmen. Both may be partners in corruption, but Congressmen, by definition, aren't lobbyists. You're confusing the "john" with the "whore".

According to that statement, the late Paul Wellstone, or Waxman, or Feingold, or whoever one thinks best represents the public good honestly, is on par with Jack Abramoff.
I don't like to zero, but that gets a zero for equivocation on a level beyond stupidity and into just WSJ Editorial level lying and nihilism.
As sTivo details below, there is a big difference between Congress people who actively avoid the corrupting influence of lobbyists on one end of the spectrum, those forced to deal with lobbyists in the current political environment, those who gladly deal with legal but unethical corrupting lobbyists, those who deal criminally with lobbyists, and those who are themselves lobbyists outright on the other end of the ethical spectrum.
Furthermore there is a difference between lobbyists for populist causes that seek to benefit large swaths of Americans, and lobbys for the hyper wealthy and powerful at the expense of the general public.
Thompson represented a foreign asbestos company seeking relief from liability in American courts! Does it get any sleazier? That is exactly the problem with today's Republican party, completely in bed with the worst of the worst in the corporate world, and not even necessarily America companies, but anybody in the world with money will do.
The only positive thing I can think of to say about Thompson's lobbying for Big Business is that he actually registered as a lobbyist. Dick Cheney lobbied for Big Oil, ran Halliburton (which is now moving to Dubai) and accepted millions in pay for his connections in Washington, invited Big Oil and Enron execs to write his energy policy, and never even admitted to being a lobbyist.
I guess the bar is pretty low in the Republican party.

I'm not noticing too much when asked what it felt like when you have information on Iraq. No the bombing isn't a sign of what is seen in the loyal country and new things aren't what is welcomed either. Justly having too much can trigger the service and you know too little when you don't. Lobbying isn't a sign for too much and it won't have the like or dislike of the congress (or where I'd like to think it has gone.) Creating trust and making known the areas of personal dislike isn't a sign of know vote. But when you have the whole area to cover (and there are morbid spaces covered in the area of asbestos,) you can only hope that there are others there.
Freedom and peace can be seen by work done by the senate and their knowlege taking us to the new life not only giving us all we need and more but what we like to see as a progressive nation.
And I'm sure their going to be okay with us moving as a secure nation and a solid service for future wars as well as future nations.

Keep Hammering on Fred. Anyone who still grounds himself in the ReaganComedy not only has his saddle on backwards, he has his head up deep where the sun don't shine.
