Late Updates from the Formerly Ill Management

user-pic

What a week! Sorry I wasn't around more, illness struck and put me out of commission for a few days. Looks like there was lots going on in my absence, but a few quick management updates:

  • We're looking forward next week to a visit from Jeff Faux, founder and senior fellow at the Economic Policy Institute, to discuss his new argument that the global economy (and therefore the globe) is run by an investor elite he's named "The Party of Davos." Check out his previous piece in Democracy Journal and come prepared with thoughts for him on Monday.
  • A warm welcome to Katha Pollitt, who joined us on Wednesday as a Special Guest and will be joining to Coffee House as a regular contributer in March.
  • Special thanks to Amanda Marcotte for joining us for the week to share her thoughts on blogging, religion, political debate and presidential politics. Those were some amazingly long discussion threads...

I hope everyone had a good week and shared some wisdom. I'm sure it'll be a busy weekend and then back to work on Monday!

Ha! I knew Professor Danger wouldn't be able to stay away from blogging.

Hmmm...sick during the week. Conveniently feeling better in time for the weekend?

Hmmm.....

:-)

Glad you're all better!

If only I were so clever. Thanks for your well wishes!

When he says he dilates endlessly, he means endlessly. Hurrah!

Andrew:

Sorry to hear about your illness. I too have been down with early stage-1 of pneumonia. But even that and a broom and a bucket of poop wouldn't keep me away from a week of experiencing the ranting and raving that was brought to us by Amanda's presence. I couldn't help but notice the distinct smell of quite a few sock-puppets in those threads and Katha's, if you get my drift.

And there was a noticable uptick in traffic from 1/19 on ... here's this week's graph.

Looking forward to all the interesting commentators you can bring our way.

"Of all the years I've spent at sea I've never seen a sea get sick."

Berube is intelligent, honest and ethical. I look forward to reading his contributions to the discussion.

One of the 100 most dangerous professors? Can't you do better than that?

The list was compiled by David Horowitz's people, and Michael won the top spot, leaving the contender something like 100,000k votes behind. Horowitz cleaned the slate and restarted the vote. This time Michael secured no. 2 spot and who was number 1? Prof. Gitlin of Columbia, one of TPM contributors.

I guess TPM is planning to become THE MOST DANGEROUS BLOG IN THE UNIVERSE. (With all due respect to Ms. Markotte and other valiant contributors, no profession is more dangerous than that of humanities professor. They are deceptively mild mannered.)
