Recall Nagin petition surfaces
Less than a hundred days after being sworn into his second term, the Mayor of New Orleans already has a "Recall Nagin" effort on his hands.
Fellow Nola blogger Ashley Morris explains why it won't succeed.
But that doesn't mean a discouraged populace shouldn't register its dissatisfaction. True to form, Ray Nagin has provided more embarrassment than leadership for New Orleans. He's insulted Ground Zero, and spent more time fundraising for himself (even though he's term-limited) than on making tough decisions about how the city should be rebuilt. Skyrocketing insurance and energy bills are only adding to the depression and anxiety throughout the area.
It's not a good time in New Orleans right now, and that's without the threat of a hurricane in the Gulf. Any opportunity to "vent" at our political officeholders is welcome by me.
