By The Numbers: The Other 5 Year Report
Been gone for a month, and always takes me a while to get back into gear. But, I'm watching this press conference now (I do feel like I've seen it before, wait, I have) and it really is nothing. But, the Democrats reply highlights a report by Third Way, the folks who came up with "tough and smart", that is simply excellent with almost no commentary. Just the numbers. Helpful for those like me who have shied away from anything remotely close to math since 7th grade.

What? No mention of how ill-advised and inequitable tax cuts have converted a potential $1 trillion dollar surplus into a bottomless deficit? This is also a defense issue. Of course, the problem there is that devastation is the result of KEEPING promises to cut taxes even though the economic and global political situation changed dramatically. I can forgive the Bush administration for a lot of mistakes. Fighting multiple wars on a credit card with the First Bank of China will never be one of them. In the long run, that could do more damage to United States interests than all the other idiotic decisions combined.
