Matt's article:
In case Bush hasn't noticed, the regimes in Damascus and Tehran aren't run by kind people looking to help the world out of the goodness of their hearts.
And Washington.

Syria is the real problem here, then, not to put too fine a point on it, someone needs to take some action of some kind related to Syria.
Let me draw your attention to this: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/009245.php
Bush or someone is apparently taking your advice and trying to get Israel to attack Syria. You do not urge them to do something about Syria when their only solutions to problems are 1) Give money to corporations 2) Gut the Constitution 3)Bomb stuff.
You scare me Matt.

Exhibit A: "The Summer of 1914" by Wm. LIND

For my part, I wonder if GWB is not dumber than the last emperors of Austria, Russia, and Germany combined.

You've omitted the word "if" from the beginning of Matt's sentence.

It raises two questions:
1) how stupid is Bush? I never understood the concepts like "intelectually lazy" or "intelectually incurious".
2) how shameless are the sycophants around Bush, including Mr. Blair?
Railroad line from Moscow to St. Petersburg goes absolutely straight except for ca. 30 mile segment where it follows part of an arc. Czar (Alexander II?) was asked -- how should the railroad go? and he took a ruler and marked a straight line. The arc follows the outline of his imperial finger.
Bush once had a stupid speach about sending people to Mars, and lo! NASA is reshuffling the budget to accomodate this dubious priority that Bush had never mentioned again. More imprortant policies are set in the same manner. I feel rather desperate.

It's odd that a prepared statement would be so awful. I mean, this is the 'everything is under control' White House. I have a suspicion that the rats are leaving the ship-- and Bush abandoned is not a pretty sight.

Right. I realized that but I didn't think it was that big a deal.
That Matt scares me was more hyperbole than anything else. I am not saying that Matt wants people to bomb Syria but that encouraging logical consistency in this matter is incredibly dangerous because the Bush Administration is full of morons and he's tempting fate by saying it.
That's like saying "If Iran is the real problem, then why don't you nuke Iran?"
The Bushies just might do it.
