What's the Deal With . . .
. . . Brad Carson? I mostly agree with what he has to say here but it seems to me that over the past year this sort of thing is all he does. There's nothing wrong with some Dem-on-Dem disputating and criticizing, but there's something seriously wrong with these people who seem to live for nothing other than criticizing the political movement they claim to be affiliated with.

I don't think that is true. Healthy political movements need people on the inside who spend lots of their time being critical. If anything, one of the problems with the current Republican movement is the leadership's inability to listen to critical insight from within (or without).

Yeah, but he's writing at realclearpolitics, a right-wing site--hardly "on the inside".

How right-wing is Real Clear Politics? I've heard the name bandied about but I've never actually been to the site before now, and like Matt I agree with what Carson says here - in fact, I'd say what he says more stridently than he puts it... I think Dems are shamelessly selling out good foreign policy on this issue for a few cheap political points.

Thank you, Matt. This is precisely why I think Mickey Kaus is a world-class douchebag.
Sebastian Holsclaw's comment is true in a very broad sense, but I don't think the Democratic Party has ever suffered from a lack of internal critics.

Yeah, Carson seems to be on the money on just about everything of his I've read.
He's a good guy, tough loss last time (though Coburn is not the worst GOP senator, he's crazy but honest). Carson's not even 40, he'll end up in the Senate eventually.
